Marrara is 175 x 135 Stripes, making it longer and narrower than the MCG, same length as Subiaco but a bit wider.  Here's a link for all ground dimensions:

Richmond turns up for Darwin match

TRAINING sessions in a heat chamber are helping prepare Richmond players for the heat and humidity they will experience in Darwin on Saturday night.

The Tigers began exercising in the chamber last week at the $20 million ME Bank centre at Punt Road Oval to acclimatise to face Port Adelaide in the Top End.

They have had supervised aerobic workouts on treadmills, stationary bikes and rowing machines in the specially designed chamber to ready themselves for Northern Territory temperatures as high as 30C.

"We think that will provide some benefit," Tigers football manager Ross Monaghan said.

"They can work on rowers and bikes, treadmills and things like that in humid conditions to simulate a warmer climate.

"We think our players are in pretty good condition and should be able to cope pretty well."

The club moved into the modern training and administration building at the start of the season.

The important match-conditioning for the Darwin match would have been impossible in the old changerooms.

"We can accommodate the best part of a team in there (the heat chamber) at once for a period of time on a regular basis," Monaghan said.

Each competing club has a coolroom at the stadium in Darwin for pre-game preparations. And there are electric fans beside the interchange benches and ice-vests available during the quarter-time and three-quarter time breaks.

Richmond flies to Darwin on Friday morning and the team will have a light run at TIO Stadium soon after their arrival.

Port will head north tomorrow for a training session early at night to prepare for what will be the Power's fifth game there in the past three seasons.

AFL clubs take an extra player interstate in case of an emergency and the Tigers may consider adding one more to the travelling party.

Richmond's backline, already missing Kelvin Moore (hip) and Will Thursfield (leg), must replace Dylan Grimes, who tore his right hamstring against Essendon last Saturday night.

Experienced forward Brad Miller has recovered from a virus to be available for the match. The match committee met yesterday.

3 of the last 5 if you include the preseason
should have been 4 of the last 5 if the umps had paid taylor's goal in cuzzy's last game

or Vickery if you count preseason

Thanks Smokey. Means we should be able to use our better endurance/run and carry against them. We have played our best footy this year at the MCG where the space has become a factor. Long kicks will be the flavour of the day.

SUMMARY
The fortunes of these two teams, to this point of the season, could hardly be more different. The Tigers are on the rise, their improvement illustrated by their gutsy win over Essendon in the Dreamtime at the 'G match in round nine. More than 83,000 people turned out for that game, which shows the Tiger army believes its line-up is heading in the right direction.

Port Adelaide, meanwhile, is languishing on the bottom of the ladder and is planning a "tin rattle" to try and eradicate its debt. Last weekend it suffered an embarrassing loss to Fremantle at AAMI Stadium. Only 16,274 fans attended the match.

The x-factor in this clash is the fact it is being played in Darwin. This is because the Tigers have a three-year, $1 million deal with the NT Government to play one home game at TIO Stadium each season. Although the weather is dry up north now, the Darwin heat will be a challenge for both sides.
 
QUESTION MARKS
Can Richmond's undermanned backline continue to hold up? The Tigers' defenders were superb against Essendon, with Alex Rance leading the way. But another backman who impressed against the Bombers, Dylan Grimes, has been ruled out for 12 weeks with a hamstring injury.

Can Port Adelaide find something to play for? Now that Port is out of contention for a finals berth, the danger is they will keep getting thrashed week after week. To prevent that, Primus must impress on his charges that if they don't perform their careers could soon be over.

Port have lost their last 4 games at TIO Stadium. They're heading up there on Thursday.


The Power, who have played one more game than most other teams, have conceded the most points in the competition this season.

Richmond, who has also yet to have a bye, ranks third in the league in points scored and Brogan said his team's defensive skills would be put to the test this week.

"Richmond is playing some fantastic footy and it's a massive challenge for us to shut that [scoring] down," he said.

"Our defence hasn't been great...and we're well aware of that, but we'll come with that defensive mindset on Saturday and if we play for four quarters, we're a good chance to get a win."

Sounds like Port are going to try and make it a grind . Hopefully we can start well and get an early lead so they are forced to play a more open game.
