On what basis do people think Malthouse would be doing any better than Hardwick under the cicumstances, in particular leaking goals?

In 2000 maltouse took over a side that finished last on the ladder the year before with 4 wins and a % of 85 in that year they suffered one 10 goal loss, a 50 point loss and a number of narrow defeats

in his first year they finished with 7 wins and % of 86. this included a couple of 10 goal losses a 120 point flogging and a number of 40 odd point losses (including one to us)

In his second year he improved his no of wins ( to finish......9th :P) and an improved % of 107, still with a couple of heavy losses ( carlton is the regular offender through this period) but offset by some large wins.

Did he have to strip back to basics to the same degree dimma has? did he start so far behind the rest of the comp as what dimma has?

I'd say no, yet his first two years were not much better than what we are seeing now.

even in his third year, when the skunks finished 4th, it was with only 13 wins.

It has taken him 10 years to get to where the filth are now, yet some are expecting hardwick to turn a basket case around in what, 1 1/2 seasons. stuff me not even macgyver could make strawberry jam out of sh|t .

Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Will admit I am not happy with the last couple of weeks, Melb game was terrible, Carlton one was well everyone one knows my thoughts on that one and last night well what I thought most on here was expecting so.... ::) a little persepctive wouldn't go a stray.

I find it extraordinary that people are calling for the coach's head less than 18 months into what was always going to be a huge job is laughable. Granted he's probably made a few mistakes along the way but that was going to happen

The majoirty have said they don't want short cuts, they were expecting a another tough year the 2nd into a massive re-build, didn't expect finals and some even went as far as to wanting us to finsih bottom 2 or 3.

Now that wish becomes a possbility everyone is jumping up and down and it would the sky appears to falling once more. I read people say early draft picks is what needed in 2011 not finals... struth I thought some people would be happy now  ;D

Make up your minds what you want exactly?

Maybe we got caught up in the hype that the media spewed out, the talk of finals, the talk of how far  we'd supposedly improved on last year. Take a depth breath and think back to what your expectations were at the start of the season. I would think for most we are exactly about where people thought we would be

Yep we've had a awful 5 weeks but sadly I come to realise that maybe the last five weeks (apart from the nightmare that was round 15) was what we needed. So we could to get our heads out the clouds and back to reality to enable us to realise we've got a bloody long long way to go..

would have to agree with Al on that one.

Dimma has inherited an absolute basket case. Seriously right now we have the worst team, equal to port, in the whole league.

4 Potential A graders. Few B's the rest c,d,e's.

We have a rubbish team with no spine, zip nothing at all.

FF okay, but no ruck, no chf, no chb and no full back.

My only concern is that Dimma doesnt make the right choices come end of year.

our team gets treated like rag dolls most weeks because we have skinny weak minded players like Hislop and Edwards and average ones like Jackson, while your got Tuck sitting at Coburg.

H-Wick has only cleaned a bit "A BIT" of Richmond's list.

Has gone against his own philosphy's ...

We all know what they were.

He is soft and will not make tough calls ...

BUT most of all, THERE IS NO STRUCTURE!

H-Wick and his girlfriends have no idea, useless, hopeless ... list goes on!

We need a HARD, ARROGANT, RUTHLESS, STRUCTURE MINDED coach ...

Michael Malthouse!

He can turn "poo" into "GOLD". eg: Collingwood.

Our midfield DO NOT RUN! NO RUN! NO HUNGER!

Essendon last night when they smelt blood POUNCED!

We are going to win easy-pointless matches and have more wins then last year.

We only beat teams that are not inform or injury depleted.

Get it back on topic you idiot.

I'm a bit sick of having to wade through this garbage in every thread.

the rot set in when we lost in darwin.

I agree, and dont want to go off topic blaming the "selling of games"or anything like that at all
But I believe from that point the players belief in themselves or care factor or what ever you want to call it has just drained away since that match

There is no excuses to why we lost. We should of beaten them IMO.
The lose really took the wind out of our sails.

Haven't read the hole lot yet, Has Malthouse been mentioned.
I know it wont happen but what is the take from OERites if we had a shot.

Dimmas is OK don't get me wrong, but Micky has a track record not to sneeze at.
I would say do it.

I would use Angus as an example, Dimma seems a bit too (Stab here) nice and I reckon someone like Mick would really just give it to this guy straight up and have him at least trying to put his body on the line and in the contest.

How could u not sign Mick over Hardwick,if not for his record over just the last 5 years, ffs!

But Ox - we couldn't sign Malthouse 18 months ago because he was contracted to C'wood = he wans't an option

And despite the stupidity of the agreement that Eddie McHead has put together with Buckley & Mick  - Malthouse is contracted to the Pies for the next 3 years and I cannot see him reneging on that contract. So he isn't an option now
