Shaun Grigg, Richmond, has been charged with a first offence for engaging in a melee at quarter-time of the Round 16 match between Richmond and Essendon, played at the MCG on Saturday July 9, 2011.
 
In summary, he can accept a $1200 sanction with an early plea.
 
A first offence for engaging in a melee is a $1600 sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a $1200 sanction.

Contact between Richmond's Jake King and Essendon's Angus Monfries from the fourth quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. The impact was below the force required to constitute a reportable offence, as a medical report from the Essendon Football Club said player Monfries was not treated for any injury for the contact. No further action was taken.
