Interesting that Connors wants out. Wasn't he injured all year...  :whistle

Yep, doesn't add up.

I know it's Damian Barrett and this could be garbage but tonight on the Footy Show he claimed Luke McGuane is looking at his options elsewhere and Daniel Connors may do the same.

So McGuane and Connors are definitely staying at Richmond then. Damn !

3rd round picks are not worth a cracker this season, so of we are going to trade it should be for players. On another topic Jackson is our best tagger so if we trade him who is going to take his place? (and don't suggest grigg he lacks any sort of appetite for body contact)

I would think you could groom young Batchelor for the job

Keeping a player because he's good at tagging whilst being terrible in every other aspect is not the path of a successful club.

No more McBrainfades in defence. How will we cope!

Luke is contracted so he'll only go if we can do a trade. I would accept a 3rd round compo pick if there's one out there. McGuane would then be cheap insurance as a tall defender for another club while the compo pick would end up around a mid-late 30s pick next year which is a decent pick.

Connors could still end up staying as he was injured with a 2-3 week injury  ::) that lasted the season. If he goes then he could help make a trade cheaper as far as what pick we would have to give up along with him for say a Maric or Renouf.

Jacko ain't much of a tagger though against the top players and teams. He's no Scott Selwood!  :(

^very true...and surely you can find someone to become a number one tag (afterall, not too many blokes are drafted based on their "run with/tagging" skills)...or if next year continues the development theme, then rotate more of the young guys onto the guns of the league to get some experience of when and where to run...Conc's, Batchelor, Dea etc could all do with some midfield exposure even if they do end up playing down back for their careers - the more blokes you can send into the middle the better...moral of the story is Jacko-whilst serviceable & passionate-is a supposed leader that can't kick, makes poor decisions & as we know is prone to brain fades...dumbest "smart" bloke i've seen for a while...

but i digress and have babbled (since the topic's Mc & Con)...if blokes who aren't part of our future don't wanna buy in - ship them off as part of a package or for picks, yeah it's a "weaker" draft but there'll still be some gems down the pecking order (or at least some shiny-ish stones for depth)...Mc G's back up (at best) & Connors just might be one of those unfulfilled talents but if we can fill a need or plan for the future by shipping him then Adiaos Amigo!

When staying would mean playing all year at Coburg before being delisted in 12 months time, he'll probably accept any AFL club that would want him.

Jordie did it and got paid quite handsomely for it too  ;D

But seriously, if RFC say Luke we can do a deal with say Freo and Luke doesn't want to go then he doesn't go  ;D

McGuane has now become our 3rd Tall/backup option in defense. He would some currency. Connors is less likely to go - he's actually Dusty's best mate as well.

if you include Moore is 7th in line

1st - rance
2nd - grimes
3rd - post.
4th - astbury
5th - thursfield.
