1 October 2011 06:33PM ESTMICK Malthouse will not be part of Collingwood’s succession plan, after announcing after the Magpies’ grand final loss that he will not be at the club in any capacity next year.
Months of conjecture was ended when the legendary coach said he would not be taking up the Director of Coaching role at Collingwood in 2012, despite having an agreement in place with president Eddie McGuire for two years.
It is likely Malthouse will step into the media with the Seven Network, while the Pies begin the search for an overseer for new coach Nathan Buckley.
"I will not be coaching next year, and I will not be at the Collingood Football Club next year," Malthouse said in the post-match press conference.
Rodney Eade will become an immediate candidate.
