How did we all rate Richmond's trade week?

 
* Morris and pick 15 for pick 14

* Maric for pick 37

* Pick 79 for Morton

* Picks 26 and 2nd round compo pick for End of 1st rnd compo pick.


In: Maric, Morris, picks 15, 26, 2nd rnd compo, 79

Out: Morton, picks 14, End of 1st compo, 37.

We got a ruckman without budging on our initial offer.  :clapping

Masterstroke to screw over Port by picking up Morris by dropping 1 spot down in the first round.  :clapping :clapping

Gained Pick 26 (end of 1st round) in this years draft and a banked compo pick that comes into play directly after Port's 2nd round pick (still being speculated) for our end of 1st round compo pick  :clapping :clapping :clapping

Massive positives here, intelligent trading, not getting caught up in bidding wars, improving our list and managing to move on a player who has struggled with us for possibly the best we could have got.

Thought we traded extremely well in the shadow of a very average recruiting period. We filled holes that needed filling - ruck and small defender to shut down the oppositions small forwards that have rodgered us for years. We swapped one end of first round pick for an earlier first round selection plus an early (well based on previous years selections  :-[) second round selection. We also got rid of a player we were intending to delist regardless and found him a home which builds good will between clubs and existing players. We recieved a pick we are going to use to upgrade a rookie regardless.

All in all we have done very well just as we did last year. Well done to all involved  :clapping

I think we are winners in the trade period gaining Morris, Maric plus an extra 1st round selection whilst only losing Morton who was going to be delisted and a compo pick which lost more and more value due to other compo picks.  Would have loved to have traded McGuane or Connors for anything to clear up space.

If we can get Mitch Grigg (15) and Toby Greene (26) we will be doing well.

Would love the Fev also.  Looks like Essendon might go there??

PSD target should be Maric from Melbourne and we should target Mark Blake as a rookie (Insurance only).

Up until that last trade of our compo pick for pick 26 it was looking very ho-hum

But overall we did OK

What will be interesting now is to see who we de-list, seeing outside of Morton we didn't move any of those out of contract or those who were ocntracted that they supposedly shopped around eg McGuane, Connors

I would say good.

We picked up Morris  and Maric for about what we wanted which was a fair price.
The compo pick exchange was a good result, slightly better off.
The Morton deal I think was terrible. We gave up a player who got 9 games this year for a pointless pick.
In comparison were the following similar types - Ebert (28), Hill (49), Sierakowski (58) and Power (69).
Even if we were being generous to Mitch in allowing a trade to his team of choice it sends a very bad message of how we value our players in trade.

RICHMOND

Gained: Ivan Maric, Steven Morris, Picks 15, 26, 79, second-round compensation pick**

Lost: Mitch Morton, Pick 14, 37, end-of-first-round compensation pick**

Draft picks: 15, 55, 73, 79, 91

Verdict: Tiges stood their ground on Maric and got him for pick 37, which is a fair deal. He's no star but he will offer a contest in the middle. Got something for Morton but couldn't find a home for Luke McGuane. Overall a solid effort.
