Pick 42. St Kilda - Clay Smith (11/05/1993, 180cm, 78kg, Gippsland Power)

After going tall in previous picks the Saints select Clay Smith who is a in and under midfielder and clearance winner who averaged 17 disposals and 4 tackles per game in the U18 Championships for Vic Country. In the draft combine he was sixth in the beep test (15.3) so he has good endurance and he's known for his ferocious tackling and ability to stand up in and break tackles. He can also go forward and kick goals. The one knock is his kicking isn't what you would call lace-out which is why he'll slip down the draft order but he is an accumulator of the footy (avg. 26 possies in the TAC Cup this season) and he'll compliment a Saints midfield where he could continually feed the likes of Dal Santo and Montagna.

thnx  :thumbsup
The opening post in this thread has the list of draftees already taken in our phantom draft.

EEA, for a list of all potential draftees try: http://oneeyed-richmond.com/forum/index.php?topic=14390.0 and http://draftmachine.afl.com.au/

With pick #43 Sydney choose Josh Bootsma.  With a gameplan that relies heavily on run out of the backline, he will fill the gap created by the retirement of Taigh Keneally and the club is very happy that he unexpectedly slipped this far in the draft.  Fremantle wanted to select him under the father/son rule but were ruled ineligible by the AFL.  He is 190cm tall, quick and competitive, and played Colts football with South Fremantle in 2010 averaging 12.1 disposals in 13 games.

Pick 44. Carlton - Sam Dwyer  (29/08/1986, 179cm, 78kg, Port Melbourne)

A bit left-field to go with a mature state league player here but Carlton are ready to challenge as a top side now so adding a ready-made 25 year old at this stage of the draft isn't out of the question. Pick 44 is also Carlton's last live pick. Dwyer is a footy smart midfielder/forward with good skills and pace who was arguably Port Melbourne's best player in their premiership year this season and starred in the VFL Grand Final win.

Pick 45. Port Adelaide: Alex Forster (14/07/1993, 189cm, 81kg, Norwood)

Port select a home grown medium defender/utility who won All-Australia honours in 2011 and who played senior footy for Norwood in the SANFL. Forster is dual-sided, has good hands, is a strong overhead mark and reads the play well. He is also versatile in that he can play across half-back and through the midfield.

I was hoping Forster and Clay Smith would slip to GWS's next pick at 56, but OE took them both  :banghead

Seriously though, how did both these kids fall to mid 40's! :whistle

Geez JVT you are a greedy bugger.  ;D With the likes of Coniglio, Patton, Tyson, Buntine etc.. Why do you need Clay? I was hoping I'd get him at 55 but there ain't too much left so RFC may pass on 55. mind you Zac Dawson has now been officially delisted.  ;D
