An improved and solid game yesterday from Ellis with 21 possies and 5 inside 50s. Surely a first year player who has played every game up to round 16 and racks up 20+ possies deserves a Rising Star nomination?!

I think the physicality and tempo of the game has caught up with him in recent weeks but yesterday was a marked improvement from his last 4 or 5 games.

An already open NAB AFL Rising Star field has been blown even further apart with Monday's news that Greater Western Sydney forward Jeremy Cameron is likely to be ineligible.

If Cameron doesn't go to the tribunal and win, Western Bulldogs second-year midfielder Mitch Wallis may become the frontrunner for the Rising Star.

Of the other nominees up until round 14, Geelong's Steven Motlop, Giants midfield pair Stephen Coniglio and Dylan Shiel, Essendon defender Jake Carlisle and Adelaide's Daniel Talia also have claims.

Gold Coast's Josh Caddy and Richmond half-back Brandon Ellis have yet to be nominated, but could also attract votes should they join the field before year's end.
