Yep that incident in the last quarter on the members wing where he blindly kicked it to the Nought player coming off the bench was woeful. All it needed was composure and a handball to the running player I think it was Dea next to him. I'm sure he'll learn but as quality around you goes down so do those players output who you've come to rely on in the B grade. Alas we are lacking some real quality in our lower tier that can step up and win a game like that. Has been missing all year.

One of the few best things that impresses me about this kid Ellis is his hardness at the ball and when he makes an error he does not give up. I think that when Matty Arnot gets into the side then we will have 2 "Campbell Browns" - ie players capable of hurting the opposition but with a few more brains than Browny (I hope).

Tiger Brandon Ellis is the round 17 NAB AFL Rising Star

BRANDON Ellis had no idea what direction his life would take in 2012.

After a standout year for TAC Cup team Calder Cannons, Ellis was widely considered a first-round draft pick.

But with GWS dominating the first round and lowly Gold Coast and the Brisbane Lions also featuring, it seemed probable that he would be heading on a plane to pursue his AFL dream.

No Victorian club had a selection until pick 15, but fortunately Ellis lasted long enough to be snapped up by the Tigers.

"I would have been happy to get drafted anywhere but it's an extra bonus to be drafted just a 10-minute drive from where you're living. It's a dream come true," Ellis said.

Ellis is this week's NAB AFL Rising Star nomination after his 21-possession game against North Melbourne on Sunday.
