What's the harm of pushing Newman into the veterans list?
Salary cap could be a problem. On the vets' list only half of Newy's salary counts towards the salary cap and that could push us under the minimum 92.5% of the salary cap every club needs to pay.

From a list management point of view it would be better to have a few salary cap "fillers" this year which can then be freed up from 2013 onwards for free agency as well as to use to keep our young guns who will want more money as they reach their prime years.

Examples of salary cap fillers would be:
* Keeping Newy on our senior list for another year so his full salary counts towards our 2012 salary cap
* Having Goo's salary for next year of his contract count towards our 2012 salary cap even if he departs now
* Front-loading contracts of Cotch, Dusty, etc.... so you pay them more now and not so much in subsequent years so our salary cap doesn't become a problem in future years.

Thanks mate :thumbsup

Why would you delist anyone now? why wouldnt u have done it prior to the draft.  i would assume goo is staying.  if he does go it says a bit about how uncertain the footy dept is.

Strong word in another pub that Gourdis is not training and will not be back at the club.

Just finished a game of online chess with him and he said he has been at training since before most people were born. Hardwok gave him permission to meet the team in Vegas. This is no bullcrap rumour started on a dodgey internet forum, this is from the blokes skype word for word.

Really depends on the TPP position - no doubt members will be informed retrospectively next week.

I would be very happy if this occurs: David Gourdis is delisted, Port Adelaide draft McCarthy and we draft a 18 year old half forward type.

Will be barracking for Port Adelaide to draft McCarthy!

2

we need a couple of mid sized forwards around the 186cm to 189cm who can run with pace, posses some nice skills and become goal kicking half forwards.

Don't agree we have enough or enough players that can play in that position.

HUN now reporting this morning that Port are interested in Leon Davis (again) if the "price is right" - they need a "name" so IMO they'll go for Leon

Would think it is a given McCarthy will wind up at the Tiges  ;D
