Injury-hit Daniel Connors has missed the US trip because of personal issues but will rejoin training before Christmas.

Agree with DT. Needs to address his personal issues, assess where he is going and if he wants to play football make a concerted effort to get back on track.

going back to allroy gilligan, every player who has been given a leave of absence to sort out personal issues has found themselves no longer on the richmond list at the end of the year.
Probably shows the pressures and dedications required to play AFL footy is hard enough without additional personal issues/demons.

The Club must still be holding out on hope as Dan wasn't delisted yesterday.

thus the heavier emphasis in character when recruiting. It will be interesting to see if they try any risky high reward types again when we have a more mature and stable list.

RT (Ruthless Tiger?) on BF is saying that the personal issue has to do with a family member rather Dan himself.
If true that would then explain why he wasn't delisted.

Given that he will rejoin the group before christmas It's pretty safe to assume he hasnt violated his alcohol restrictions.

RT seems to think it is a serious illness or death of a family member.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

If this is hte case every one who has been bagging him and taking pot shots should have a good hard look at themselves.

Why? " you reap what you sow" if T Cotchin missed the trip for personal reasons we would jump to a different conclusion. He has form off field and the club hasnt helped by being vague about it
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

so condemning someone for wanting to spend time with their family beacause of a death or serious illness if OK if that person is not a perfect human being?

Whatever the personal reason(s) are I think everyone including Dan himself knows that 2012 is a make or break year for him. Other younger blokes will easily pass him by in the pecking order if he doesn't step up and play most of next year in the seniors.

This is the thing right.

Sam Mitchell had serious personal issues last year and still missed only one game. He is a true professional who bleeds for his club.

You would've thought he would still attempt to join his mates in the states. With all the issues surrounding Connors i would've expected the club to say if it concerned a family member/illness. IMO i think its all being hidden nicely and has something to do with himself.

the bloke has issues and we dont need his  type at our club. We should've offloaded him and MM to the swans.

Both rubbish attitudes we dont need.
