I don't mind the off season, its the time of year when there is hope for all.

I hope we get to exchange more squishy quips :cuddles
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

You had me at I.
Who isn't a fan of the thinking man's orange Tim Fleming?

Gerks 27/6/11

But you see, it's not me, it's not my family.
In your head, in your head they are fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are crying...

More a case of jumping at shadows rather than there being any smoke IMHO Flags. But if you want to believe there is even the slightest bit on merit to the comment then you go for it, personally I thought it was just this  :lol

Al makes a great point - on draft day you can't read out a player rego number and then read out the wrong name. You do that and you lose that pick. Clubs don't make those types of mistakes

The point about rego numbers and names is that one would look up the number after deciding which player to nominate, based on their name.
Therefore if you got the wrong name you would put the "right" number to that wrong name

If there was a mistake made it would be before draft day and not picked up by anyone else.
So therefore, the idea that Richmond would get this wrong is totally impossible, absurd, inconceivable, preposterous and out of the question.

Not so much :lol but more :ROTFL

BTW this was the quote from Francis Jackson immediately after the draft.

RICHMOND
Recruiting manager Francis Jackson said the Tigers filled a number of holes around the ground with their selections.

Draft summary
"We've think we've got a good mix of talls and smalls, but they're also versatile players that can kick the ball well, which was a focus for us coming in.

"Reece is just the all-round package; Jake Batchelor is a half-back flanker; Dean McDonald is a key forward and Tom Derickx is a big, strong ruckman, so we've covered a lot of bases with our picks."

DEAN MacDonald = 184cm, 87kg

Very plausible explanation IMHO Red.

believe what you want. If you're so keen to find fault in the club so you can slag off off at it then go for it.

No one is slagging no one. You seem to have become emotional over this topic Al. In the end Red has made an allegation and come up with an argument to back it up thats all. Theres no need to be this emotional about defending the club. Common seriously its just forum banter.

So you are saying someone has made an allegation and come up with nothing more than an "argument to back it up" and that's enough  :-\

Flags banter or not I expect more from you  :lol :rollin :rollin :rollin

flags you got stuck into the club over this as if it was gospel.

Redans accusation is based on one quote saying key forward.

yet to readout the wrong name would take so many errors going unnoticed by so many people it's not funny.

have a look at the interview after the draft with FJ,
http://www.richmondfc.com.au/roarvisionarchive/tabid/11454/contentid/314631/default.aspx

does he look like a bloke who has just had the wrong name read out when he talks about dmac?

perhaps he is a master liar but i cant see any indication he was caught out. seemed to know his stuff about him pretty well.

his bio was given to the IT dept before hand so they could prepare in advance, so this was pre planned mistake?

what is more likely?

the term used in one interview was a mistake

or

a carefully planned event was stuffed up so much on so many levels that it all came together in such a way that no one realised the mistake was made until it was too late?

it was reported in the press about the reaction of the essendon table when we read out helbigs name, but there was no report in the press about any reaction at the richmond table when they read out macdonalds name.

surely one of the recruiters would have realised it was wrong, or do you believe that they all pale in to insignificance with them, that they dont recall who they actually looked into ain their list of potential draftees? that after all the analysis they put in and narrow down to number of potential draftees, that they didn't even know who their man played for?

just say somehow the bloke reading out the names was somehow given the wrong name.
what sort of reaction do you think the recruiters would have had as the wrong name was read out? there would of have been a look of shock on their faces followed by all sort of activity and frenzied discussion going on at the table. someone would have picked it up.

or perhaps given most peoples opinion of FJ as being pretty low,  he regards 6 ft 1 as being a key forward? poo if you want to be technical he said key forward, not key position forward. would it be that long a stretch to consider someone that kicks 40+ goals in a year as a key forward, (as opposed to a key position forward)? who knows from a dud like jackson?

seriously, which scenario is quite possible and which is most  unlikely?

Ramps, I'm all for criticism where it it deserved, but by the same token i find unwarranted criticism distasteful.

The scenario that RT paints, while not impossible is improbable, but as i said, people will generally believe what they want to.

Hey Red you got any more info?

For your info Flags, here's the Melbourne take on Tom last year.
Played the last two matches in defence for Melbourne.

I

Youre way too emotional for some reason about this. If you read all my posts from page 3: you get

page 3: post 1 - Reds just dropped a bomb and no ones paid any attention post 2 - I said "IF" its true then ....  post 3 - was just a very general comment about the allegation. Page 4 - I made no comments or posts and page 5 of this thread - post 1 all I said was that it was a plausible explanation, post 2 I said that no one was slagging  and post 3 all I said was that Red provided quotes. Then I simply asked him if he had more information - THATS ALL!

So theres dead set no way that I got stuck into the club the way you have suggested and certainly not as though the allegation was "gospel". I dont mind you getting stuck into my posting but at least try and keep it sensible.  :cheers

Flags, you gave it to the club with both barrels. granted you started with If, but then went into a tirade (an emotional one at that?) ending with what the stuff is going on at Richmond.

Red dropped this bomb and nobody gave it any interest. If this is true then whoever read out the name should have been SACKED! Why pay a bloke money to do a job when they cant even stuffen read out the proper stuffen name at the draft. What the stuff is goin on at Richmond?

the way you ended that reads as if you believed it to be true, why else would you ask what the eff IS going on at richmond?

This is what prompted me to ask if you were serious to start with.

If i came across as too emotional, as i explained i find unwarranted critism unsavoury. I also find the seemingly endless desire of some posters to find fault in the club tiresome, particularly when much of it now, is unwarranted.

Football is an emotional game Ramps, as I'm sure you know.
