Hold that TigerBy Paul Daffey Tue 07 Feb, 2012
RICHMOND president Gary March is confident that the contract situations of midfielder Brett Deledio and coach Damien Hardwick can be sorted out in the coming months.
Deledio and Hardwick are both out of contract at the end of the season, and Deledio has asked that talks be put off.
March said the club had ben pleased with Hardwick's first two years in charge.
"The club won’t be discussing his contract situation," he said. "We have a process in place and we will make an announcement when we are ready to do so.
He said he was confident that Richmond's Fighting Tiger Fund could raise $6 million and eradicate the club's debt. It was this fund that enabled the recent upgrade of the Punt Road surface.
Richmond has 32,000 members and is well on the way to attracting 50,000 members for the first time in the club's history.
March said the club was well-placed to achieve success.
"My aims have not changed since I became president (in 2006)," he said.
"They were to provide Richmond with elite facilities, run a profitable club, clear the existing debt and ensure we become a sustainable finals team in the AFL.
"We are still striving to do this and I hope it happens during my tenure."
