Members Cocktail party update
richmondfc.com.au
Tue 27 Mar, 2012

The overwhelming popularity of the annual Richmond members’ cocktail party, has forced the Club to make alternative arrangements for the function in 2012.

In 2011, the Tigers had to turn down almost 1000 people, who wanted to attend the cocktail party for five-plus-year members.

As a result, an additional cocktail party has been planned for 2012, to ensure that each member, who is entitled to attend as part of the Club’s reward and recognition program, has the opportunity to do so.

To assist with the cost of a second function, the Club has introduced a nominal fee of $35 for eligible members to attend the 2012 cocktail party.

But isn't the 2nd function only going ahead if it is needed? or have I mis-read the fine print  ;D

So how can you say the $35 fee is to "assist with the cost of a second function" when there isn't any guarantee that there will be one  ;D

I'm still waiting for my invite  ;D

Been thinking about this though

If the Club is so concerned about MEMBERS missing out then why do they sell "guest passes" to this?

Surely it should be a MEMBERS ONLY function then perhaps "so many" members wont miss out?

So can I suggest instead of charging members to attend a function that is supposedly to reward them for their loyalty why don't they stop allowing NON MEMBERS or MEMBERS not meeting the criteria (5+ years of consecutive m'ship) to attend  :huh

Family perhaps

it's supposed to be an over 18 function only

So parents can't take the kids  ;D

But what if you have 45 year old twins living at home mooching off their rents whilst collecting centrelink cheques like RonnieB does? I'm just sayin'  :shh

Fair question tiga  ;D

that has a very easy answer IMHO

If they are members they attned if they are not members they should not be allowed to attend as they shouldn't be selling off guest passes to a Members ONLY function  ;D

personally I reckon they have it all wrong , for the coin this costs we could please a whole lot more, putting on a FREE family day at either Punt rd, or Jells park...free barbie, snags and burgers and soft drink...Please a whole lot more fans and plenty of opportunities for autographs...this cocktail party is fringe elite stuff that is more suited to a ballroom dancing club than RFC...but hey, maybe im a little crazy :shh

Why do you commoners feel the need to denigrate the elite?
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

not sure how appealing to a greater proportion of our 50,000 members is denigrating the elite, or am i compleltey missing something ::)

you insinuated that because it appeals to those of us that have a bit of culture class and sit higher up the tree of life it is more suited to ball-room dancing, where as ball room dancing is the realm of wanna-be commoners who think they are higher up the social order than they really are.

id be careful casting judgement where you sit relative to the rest, my guess is youd likely be horribly mistaken :shh...my point is, rather than the club spend money on a select number of MEMBERS, why not choose to accomodate a far greater proportion. Nothing would please me more than to read we attracted 20,000 supporters/members  to a TIGER Party, far more meaningful than a few free lousy beers, but hey dont let me stop you living the dream :lol

the only way you'd stop me living the dream is if it was found out i was cohort-ing with commoners, so, alas, I must end this conversation, but I will sleep well tonight knowing I can cross the class barrier occasionally without being tainted.
