Kevin Bartlett's Top 5 tigers of the last 25 years

So yesterday KB briefly touched on what he thought were our best 5 players of the last 25 years.

In no order he said:

Matthew Richardson, Matthew Knights, Wayne Campbell, Craig Lambert and Joel Bowden

Intrested in any thoughts on the topic

I like his 5. I'd love to add Tony free but injuries ruined his career he certainly wouldve been a great player for us if he had a decent run of games.
And trevor Poole was a great player too.

Agree with the last line Smokey but did you really put Bowden in front of Knights?
I'm a fan of Joel's and he was a very good player but he's not in that company IMO.
Just wondering your thought process on that?

I'll start a discussion here with some. Bowden is not top 5.
I will not include current tigers as I think that is not right.

Liked Lambert but left for Brissy.

I'm a fan of Joel's and he was a very good player but he's not in that company IMO.

And responding to Tucker:

I think Lids 6 years has been enough to warrant his inclusion in best of last 25 years and that's the same reason I left Cotch out at this stage.  Both are now or will be better than Bowden but I think Joel was a better player over his career than Benny Gale or Paul Broderick, even though both were very worthy considerations.  And agree with Lambert - if he had stayed (like Maxwell) then he would have warranted consideration as well.

Campbell was great. His 1995 was fantastic. How he only polled 12 votes in the Brownlow that year is a mystery.

I think certain issues 1998 and the captaincy are things that to some may have left black marks against his credentials.

Honorable very close mention to Gaspar, who was a super player and clear best fullback in the comp for a while.

Duncan Kellaway hasn't been mentioned by anyone yet. Hard to ignore the facts that he was asked to play CHB on gorillas like Carey and then tag a superstar midfielder the next. If he could kick, would have been my number 2.

I loved Dunks for his endeavour but he like many others before and after him suffered from RFCKD.
Richmond Football Club Kicking Disease.
Gaspar was great but the end of his career post his knee injury and his last 2 seasons were marred by bad form as a result.
I thought Andrew Kellaway was a very reliable and steady player for us also in an era of little success.

agree smoke, NO way that lamberts brief time would overshadow what Lids has contributed already (2 x B&Fs)

If Campbell was our best player in the last 25 years then no wonder why we have been so pathetic. Has nothing on Knights as a player or captain.
