That was one that got away. A lack of polish and too many out of form.

Good effort by the boys but just three things we lack when it really counts, skills, skills and skills  :banghead

To execute under pressure and make the right decisions will need to improve to match it with the better teams.

Malthouse blaming the following:

Miller - got to nail those goals. Cost Richmond two goals.
Morris - when he kicked it the ball went 60m. Too often wants to handball and coughs it up. Cost another two goals.
Conca - needs to back himself. Cost two goals as well with turnovers.
Riewoldt - never presented forward of the ball.

As a collective can't rely on Cotch, Martin, Foley, Batch was good today and Rance contested well. Needs a full team effort.

Our run and carry worked pretty well til exhaustion set in in the last 10 minutes.  You're right, MT, that second quarter bombs-away rubbish cost us dearly.

Now to just get Jack and TV leading to the ball rather than getting jumped all over ....

Conca was good today but unfortunately is good is offset by skill errors, and generally where he is making those errors is costing us goals. Still cant quite follow that with 2 minutes to go and needing a goal we are chipping the ball around. I think there becomes a time when you just have to roll the dice and go long.

Stats show that...

Geelong won the last 10 minutes
Clearances:            4 - 12
Contested possies: 36 - 44 ........ first time all day that we lost the contested footy.
Inside 50s:             5 - 12

I eat my words- we were competitive for the majority of the game.
When it counted we kicked ourselves outta the game again in the 2nd quarter
That's 3 games this year we it was up for the taking and we weren't able to get it, vs last year collingwood and geelong smashed us and our first game with carlton we did the same.

I get the sense we are a much better team than last year, but our foward line is below average atm and our entries into the foward line are lacking.

So for all the hard work and effort we may end up next week 1 from 5 and that's the same result as last year so really I ask where are we at??

Cats were too strong in the last five minutes.  They won many of the contests by sheer strength

This, we need our 4 or 5 and then again the whole team to take
it by the balls when we Re in these situations and no one would ?
