Well Damien, that's fair enough and will be agreed to by most here but....Melbourne just pick up Clarke and if they get Cloke :-\

Would hate to be sitting under Melbourne on the ladder in two years.

Get used to the big bucks for the big players people, their expected wage won't drop, if we want a star at the club we must be willing to pay.
you pay one bloke a mill a year and you risk losing second tier foot soldiers due to salary constraints in the next few years.

dont forget also that as players like martin, cotchin, conca grimes rance get more experience and improve the club will have to increase their salaries as well.

i'm happy to hear this from the club. they have been smart in their bringing in of older players in terms of getting good value at lowish cost.

if we are going to ever pay that money to a player, id prefer it to be to a home grown and loyal player that earned the privilege playing along side his mates over a period of time, not a blow in mercenary who will shopped around by his old man for an even bigger paycheck at the end of his contract

Yep, good points al, but in saying that we can't afford to sit back ALL the time and let some of these players slip through, we must at least talk to them, if only to force their price up for another club.

“We are really excited about what we have brought in. We have got great depth of players that can take us where we need to go. We are just putting some cream on the top at the moment,” he said.

Melbourne are a rabble PNGQ Tiger. I understand your point but from where we are coming from and where we want to go Cloke is exactly the type of player who can detriment a club on the rebuild. Pass. As for the Dees they'll be lucky to be where we were last year given the veterans in their list the quality of other senior players and their younger players. Long way to go for them and they started their rebuild 2 years before us. :lol :rollin :lol

The question you should be asking PNGQ is was his performance tonight worth $30,000? (his current match payment) The answer is a resounding No!!!!!!!!!!!

Only an idiot wouldn't want a player the calibre of Cloke in their forward line. Money the only issue.

Not last night Al. Old men now. Cooke is available.
Jack back to his form of 2010 would've been handy
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
