5:01 PM Tue 03 Jul, 2012PROMISING Richmond forward/ruckman Tyrone Vickery has been ruled out for the rest of the season after the Tigers revealed he has to undergo a shoulder reconstruction.
The Richmond website reported that Vickery, who has missed the Tigers past two games with knee soreness, has been battling shoulder problems for the entire season after receiving a heavy knock during the pre-season.
The revelation will explain Vickery's disappointing form in 2012 following a breakout season last year in which he finished fifth in the club best and fairest.
"We have tried to manage Tyrone through this season with his shoulder, but, ultimately, it was impacting his performance and the best course of action is to get it fixed now, so he is able to complete a full 2013 pre-season,"
Richmond's general manager of football, Craig Cameron, said.
The 22-year-old Vickery has played 54 games for the Tigers after being selection No.8 in the 2008 NAB AFL National Draft.
The Tigers will also be without talented defender Dylan Grimes for a month after he suffered further hamstring damage in Saturday's loss the Adelaide.
"Dylan sustained a hamstring tendon injury in his left leg, which is the opposite to his season-ending one last year and not as significant," Cameron said.
"We don't anticipate it requiring surgery, and we're currently in the process of exploring treatment options."
Grimes has played nine games this season after seven games in 2011.
Jake King will also miss four weeks after scans revealed a grade two strain of the medial ligament. He has managed just eight games this year.
