Scratch match player summaryBy Richmond Media
Five Richmond players joined forces with players from Melbourne and Essendon to take on Carlton in a scratch match on Friday afternoon on the Gold Coast.
Oleg Markov, Sydney Stack, Riley Collier-Dawkins, Jack Ross and Callum Coleman-Jones all featured in the 16 v 16 game, which comprised of three 20-minute periods.
The combined team, dubbed the Rich-bourne Bombers, got the win over the Blues.
While Richmond VFL coach Xavier Clarke admitted it was quite a bizarre set-up, he said it was a valuable opportunity for a solid hit-out, in what was the Tigers' first scrimmage since arriving on the Gold Coast.
"We tried to get our boys in their positions to get what we needed out of it," he said.
"We weren’t going to get exactly the game we wanted in terms of playing our system, but the priority was getting a game into those players so they can get some match conditioning.
"The philosophy of the game was just to get a hit-out which we got."
Clarke’s summary of how the Tigers’ players performed:
Oleg Markov"Oleg was one who really stood out. He played across half back and did really well. His run and carry caught my eye."
Sydney Stack"'Stacky' had time in the midfield and did some really good things in offence when he got the ball in his hands. He looked really lively around stoppages and contests which was great and did some good high-speed running."
Jack Ross
"'Rossy' played through the midfield and he did some really good things around getting the ball in his hands."
Riley Collier-Dawkins"Played through the midfield. He kicked a really nice goal where he had three or four bounces down the wing and ran all the way until he was around 20 metres out and kicked the goal."
Callum Coleman-Jones"Had some moments of playing to his strengths. He played ruck and went forward and kicked two goals which was good for him."
