RICHMOND

Whispers: Port Adelaide key defender Troy Chaplin is the only player who's been strongly linked to the Tigers.

Commodities: Richmond doesn't particularly have a surplus of one type of player, but it does have players it could try to trade out. Tom Derickx, Angus Graham, Addam Maric, Luke McGuane, Jayden Post, Jeromey Webberley and Matthew White would be in that mix. The Tigers would be prepared to trade players or picks, but they wouldn't go for a veteran as their premiership window is not yet open.

Needs: The Tigers need a big-bodied key defender who’s around the mid-career stage. The Brown twins, Nathan (Collingwood) and Mitchell (West Coast), fit that brief. The Tigers believe their recent record of developing recycled players is good, so they could also look at Tayte Pears (Essendon), who hasn't been the same player since returning this season from a series of injuries. Chaplin (Port Adelaide) has been on the radar for the past month.

Trade history: Richmond has been active during recent trade weeks, building up its depth and firepower through acquisitions such as Ivan Maric (Adelaide), Shaun Grigg (Carlton) and Steven Morris (GWS). Football operations boss Craig Cameron is on record as saying the Tigers will consider all avenues to strengthen their list, so there could well be more action this year.

Fantasy trade: Nathan Foley, although a popular figure at the club, could be expendable given his recent history with injury and the talent coming through in Richmond's midfield. Essendon needs midfielders. A swap of Foley for Pears could work for both parties.

Port Adelaide

Troy Chaplin has been linked to Richmond and it was reported the Tigers had proposed a four-year deal. Primus said Chaplin had denied any contact with rival clubs.

Pears is a gun, injury plagued the last two seasons but with a full pre season he easily return to form. I wouldn't be trading Foley for him but he would be worth looking at if he was going cheap....

Pears reminds me plenty of thurstfield, recall jack kicking 7 or so on him, then again, there's been a few victims :shh

What a stuffing moron!

Foley for Pears ! Idiot!

I'd rather Foley rot on our list for 6 years than trade him for Pears.

I wouldn't mind Luke Delaney from the roos peoples thoughts ??.Finds it hard to get a game as roos big man defence as alot of depth.Big bodied defender wouldn't cost much to.Dont think he will cost much.

How old is he? Young I would hope. I've seen him get destroyed a few times.

Had a few bags kicked on him. Not sure we'll be chasing any tall defenders apart from Chaplin
