I would've thought the Bombers needed an A-grade inside mid to take the workload of Watson. Goddard has hardly played that role for St Kilda. He's played more as a half-back or half-forward flanker.

Monfries to Port?
Port and Melbourne linked to Monfries.

Goddard can't handle a tag, he's going to cop the number 1 tag every week because Watson is untaggable.  :lol
And you may not think I care for you

Goddard is probably the worst fighter going around too. Weak as pee but can play footy.

"UPDATE 28/9/12: PORT ADELAIDE star David Rodan appears set for a return to Richmond, where he began his AFL career, during next week’s trade period.
Rodan, who was the star of last night’s player revue on The Footy Show, played just the 10 matches for the Power this season.
The Tigers are looking to bolster their attacking midfielders.
The Tigers are also interested in Koby Stevens, who quit West Coast yesterday to head home to Victoria.
Stevens said he doesn’t know where he will end up, but the Tigers join Geelong, Collingwood and Hawthorn in the race for him.

UPDATE: 25/9/12: CHRIS Knights has walked out on Adelaide and is now certain to end up at Richmond, who has been the big mover in early trade talks with Port’s Troy Chaplin all but signed at Tigerland along with team-mate Matt Thomas."

Brendon Goddard will tomorrow sign a four-year contract to play with Essendon, forcing St Kilda to match the offer or lose its star. Under restricted free agency rules, the Saints will have three days to offer Goddard the same salary and length of contract. That seems unlikely. Goddard, a restricted free agent, has yet to recommit to the Saints, who have offered him a three-year deal worth about $1.9 million. Goddard is expected to reveal to St Kilda he has received a four-year offer from Essendon on superior financial terms than the Saints had offered and one that he was prepared to accept if St Kilda cannot match the terms.

Collingwood now appear likely to beat Carlton in the race for West Coast forward Quentin Lynch, a free agent who has told the Eagles he wants to leave the club.

Sharrod Wellingham is considered likely to return to West Australia, with West Coast and Fremantle believed to be keen despite a price tag of $450,000 a season. The Eagles seem to be in the box seat to secure Wellingham, but Fremantle coach Ross Lyon wants to immediately improve his midfield. He will meet with the Eagles and Dockers this week about a move back to Western Australia. Melbourne and Port Adelaide are pursuing the premiership wingman.

Melbourne midfielder Brent Moloney is a restricted free agent, with industry sources indicating the Brisbane Lions have now shown greater interest than Port Adelaide.

Port Adelaide is also set to officially offer Essendon's Angus Monfries a four-year contract with the promise of extended time in the midfield. It's understood the Bombers are keen to retain him but only on a two-year deal.

The Power has also expressed interest in Jordan Russell, the South Australian native who has quit the Blues.

Greater Western Sydney has shown interest in Jacob Surjan, the unrestricted former Port Adelaide vice-captain.

Geelong has met with former Melbourne defender Jared Rivers as it seeks a replacement for retired champion Matthew Scarlett. Brisbane has also expressed some interest.

Melbourne has expressed interest in Port Adelaide midfielder David Rodan, who is likely to be cut by the Power. Rodan is not a free agent.

A deficiency of key defenders will almost certainly lead to Hawthorn sounding out Brian Lake, unrestricted Melbourne free agent Jared Rivers and Port Adelaide's restricted free agent Troy Chaplin, who may not be available as he has been offered a three-year deal to join the Tigers.
