I don't think anyone gives a rat's tossbag that you say what you have heard, but it's the matter-of-fact and pseudo in-the-loop way of delivery that ticks people off/makes them laugh at you/has you looking like an idiot. Even a "hey guys I heard..." is better than "this will happen  " followed by "eff you all  ."
