After a good start with Knights and Chaplain - we have been very quiet!

Need more than 2 recruits to improve the list. Obviously our trade bait is not attracting any interest. A clear sign that they are duds and just need to be cut.

No depth = another frustrating season

Did we not win 10.5 games and lose a handful of games by a handful of points?
We get a Roos like draw next year and finals become much more realistic.
In fact, I would go as far to say the draw is more important that the trade period

We are half way through the trade period.

In regard to comensation he AFL states...

Compensation
Clubs will be compensated by way of draft picks if they are deemed to have a net loss in the free agency period. The compensation falls into one of five categories - a first-round pick immediately following the club's first round pick, an end of first-round pick, a second-round pick immediately after the club's second round pick, an end of second-round pick or a third-round pick immediately after the club's third round selection.

My question is when is this comensation decided?

Finals, no excuses! Hoping for a good draw to get into finals is already conceding defeat and saying we are not good enough or we don't have the players. Trade period is far more important than the draw, good sides will win anywhere, the Pies, Hawks, Freo, etc..... Have proved that.

OK the dates below.

I suppose the date highlighted in red would be when the AFL decide on compensation?

This would then leave 3-4 days of trading when the draft order is known.

Can clubs trade their compensation picks?

Here are the key dates around the Player Rules for the exchange process and the 2012 NAB AFL Draft:

October 1 – Commencement of Gillette AFL Restricted Free Agency Offer and Unrestricted Free Agency period.
October 5, 2pm – Nomination of Father-Son Eligible Players and Academy Bidding Players.
October 8, 10am – Father-Son Eligible Players and Academy Players Bid Meeting.
October 8 – Commencement of Gillette AFL Trade Period.
October 19, 2pm – Deadline for GWS Giants to pre-list balance of any uncontracted players under List Establishment rules.
October 19, 5pm – Close to Gillette AFL Restricted Free Agency Offer and Unrestricted Free Agency Period.
October 22 - Restricted Free Agency Matching Offer Response Closed
October 23, 5pm – Trade Incentive Rule (17 year-olds) Deadline for Trading.
October 26, 2pm – End of Gillette AFL Trade Period.
Yeah we're already going to vote for him mate, you don't need to keep selling it.....

Honeslty, Richmond should not trade for any players.

Be great if we either upgraded our draft picks in some deal.

Maybe trade out Graham, Post, White ...

There was a rumour earlier in the week regarding Daniel Rich going to Melbourne for an early pick.

Well if the Post/ Karnezis trade is a goer can we manufacture a situation to involve Daniel Rich in the trade and Post still ending up at Brissy.

Vossy can be enigmatic with the draft.

Rich is a left footer off half back hard at it and can play in the midfield an upgrade on Houli if you ask me. Left footer, Blair loves bringing across left footers.

I think he is a great long penetrating kick and uses the ball well.

I think playing at the MCG will suit him and he can slot into our best 22 easily and relegate blokes like Houli as depth players.

Agree but realistically he wouldn't be cheap. Would be pick 9 minimum and probally someone as steak knives. Is he worth that?

Maybe not TFT the upside is he is only 22, but you're right maybe pick 9 is abit expensive.

This draft has more depth than the black sea, wise move to hold fire and let our reputed recruiting team do their best work on d day :shh

Agree. Have added a couple of mature bodies but lets keep loading up on young talent.

Compensation picks will determined at the completion of the FA period = end Of next week as per the dates in red on your other posts

That's why some clubs are holding back in trades, want to know the various compo pick numbers to assist with doing other deals.

Think there will be a lot more trade movement in the last week
