From today's Adelaide Advertiser...

Burgess' return to AFL football - where he has worked for the Swans and Power - is complicated by his contract at English Premier League club, Liverpool. He still has a year to serve on that deal.

Adelaide, which must replace fitness coach Stephen Schwerdt as he moves to Gold Coast, considers itself out of the race for Burgess.

Richmond, which sent a delegation to England to meet Burgess, also feels it has lost the race that involves two other Victorian-based AFL clubs.

Power football operations manager Peter Rohde says his club is still hopeful of regaining Burgess at Alberton where he worked from 2004-7. But he described reports his club already having secured Burgess' commitment to the Power as premature.

"We're certainly speaking to him," said Rohde. "But the deal is definitely not done."

It is tony, but the one thing we dont seem to do is start upping the ante just to get our man. we decide on a price, make the offer and stick to it. This can only be a good thing.

In this case it's a difficult task to overcome family connections as well.

Anyway back to the topic ...

It is tony, but the one thing we dont seem to do is start upping the ante just to get our man. we decide on a price, make the offer and stick to it. This can only be a good thing.

In this case it's a difficult task to overcome family connections as well.
True al. High profile doesn't necessarily mean the best anyway (hello 'Weapon'  :wallywink ). We were after Neil Craig last year to add to our coaching ranks and missed out to Melbourne (good choice lol). Instead we eventually got Ross Smith over from Hawthorn who by all reports has been mainly responsible for tightening up our team defensive structure so we've stayed in games and not got flogged on the scoreboard all year.

I spoke to Matt Hornsby at training on Tuesday (wished him well for the future) and he was confident the Club would find someone very good to carry on what the Club's doing.
