* Our focus is on kids who have good character and are really competitive. Technical (skill) gliches can be worked on but we want kids with that competitiveness to get the best out of themselves.

* Through our networks we've watched the leagues in Vic, SA, WA, Qld and Tas. Still got the SANFL Grand Final to watch this weekend.

* We have in some cases up to 35 reports on each of the draftees. These reports are based on our scouts seeing these kids play live.

* We've followed the careers of these kids for 2-3 years (since U16s I'm presuming).

* We've still got to rank all these draftees in order as we do prior to the National draft.

* Due to free agency some clubs who lose high profile players will receive say a 1st round compo pick straight after their 1st round pick so this will push our later round picks down the order. So we've got to weigh all that up and we'll be discussing with Blair Hartley about the delisted free agents available.

With Hartley saying we will use four drafts picks, who are we looking at?

As mentioned in the pick 9 thread, Brett Anderson from Inside Football reckons we're keen on Macrae but he may be already gone before our pick. Rumours around that Vlastuin is one of the kids we're keen on.

At picks 29 & 31 it's going to depend on who is still around. Nick Graham was still a possibility of being around pick 30 a couple of months back but now he'll be picked up much earlier. Due to his height or lack of it, Nathan Hrovat may slip down the order quite a bit based on previously drafts. There's also the chance of the likes of Jason Pongracic, Sam Colquhoun or a Matthew McDonough still being available.

At pick 50, it's anyone's guess. One of the BF phantom drafts had us picking up Central Districts' ruckman Jack Hannah with a late pick.

It's still far too early to know. We may still trade picks in or out plus the clubs who have lost free agents with receive compo picks which will stretch out the draft order.

If Menzel did slide down to 31 cause of his injuries, who would you take. Lee or Menzel?

well we have 29 and 31 why not do both.  as it is lee has gone to stkilda.
for me the most talented player in the entire draft is stringer to get him we would have to use pick 9 and hes worth it. because jake is supposedly an injury risk i would stay away from menzel later in the draft.

just my opinion but i reckon we will take vlastuin. hes probably been the most consistent performer of all the recruits in this nd.
id be happy with anyone of stringer vlastuin garlett at 9. that may change  by the time the draft comes around.
still think a well rounded draft for us would be something like
9 stringer who doesnt want a bloke who can play thru the midfield better than pavlich but his size. who doesnt want a bloke who can play as a tall forward as well as pavlich you get the best of both worlds with this bloke.
29  sam lowrie inside/ outside mid with good skills and knocks up getting the ball.

31 dean towers a big bodied out side running machine who regularly  breaks lines.

50  nick rodda, alex howson both look to be excellent kpd prospects and despite what people think we sure as hell can do with another developing kpd who is actually a kpd.

68 max duffy a highly skilled forward whos a stevie j size.

84 jack hannath cameron symonds ruckmen  both early 20s and show a bit.

the selections themselves may be way off but the type of player addresses our needs and gives us a well rounded draft.

your guess is a good as mine. havent seen much of most players outside of wa.   a snippett here a clip there the odd game .


its hard to give an informed opinion when you see little of them.
ive had my eye on stringer for a few yrs now and same goes for vlastuin so ive seen a bit of them in various ways. i tend to push for those ive seen rather than those i havent.

what ive seen id say he would be a very worthy pick 9. seems to tick just about every box ie kicking agility pace finding the ball size. seems to have come with a rush the last couple of months.
what i like is he seems to be very elusive and because of this seems to have time to make good decisions.

thats about all i have.
