Patrick Keane ‏@AFL_PKeane twitter:

"Taylor Hine (GC Suns), Ben Jacobs (P Adel) were the only 2 uncontracted listed players to nominate for the Draft before today's 2pm deadline. "

He is a delisted free agent, so we could pick him up still.

No Tippett either so if the AFL still allow him to be drafted it will be via the PSD.

According to the AFL site, the finalised draft order has us with 6 picks - 9, 32, 34, 43, 88 and 100.

Not sure where the last two picks come from when we have only 4 free spots on our senior list :huh3.

To answer my own question ...

It's 40 [players on the senior list] as Veterans are now incorporated onto the senior list (+ 4 Category A rookies), however you can choose less Senior list players and more rookies (39+5, 38+6)

At the moment we have 34 senior players and 3 rookies, so 37 ...

And we will draft 4 senior listed players and 3 rookie listed players equalling 44?

Is that correct?

Why don't we have 40 senior players and 4 rookies?

TPP perhaps???

Rookie Toy, Petterd and Wood???

We have 2 'normal' rookies (Darrou, Verrier) as Gideon Simon is a international rookie who isn't included as one of the "4" rookies.

So it looks like we'll use the final free agency period after the National draft to recruit two more out of contract players to take our senior list to 40 players. That will then allow us to pick up two more rookies in the rookie draft.

So why don't we just draft a Toy with a 5th pick instead of going to a free agent period (draft??)

Is it a money issue?

Personally I would prefer us to draft another two 18 years olds ... but we might as well use our 5th pick on Toy and our 6th on Petterd and give them a year contract, seems a bit pointless the final free agent. Would Toy qualify for that? He is only a second year player?
