According to the Sydney journo just on SEN:

GWS under their old CEO when they were starting up had promised Mark Williams the senior job after Sheedy eventually steps down. However when the new CEO came on board that 'promise' became a 'sort of promise that may not happen' and then a 'we won't be needing your services beyond 2013'. Williams apparently "spat the dummy" and after their last game had a cab/car waiting outside the ground to pick him up so he could get organised and be in Melbourne in time for our B&F. Apparently Chad Cornes chased after him to the cab/car but to no avail. Those at GWS aren't too happy with what happened and apparently the story will come out in the media in the next few days.

are those at GWS that aren't too happy dirty on williams himself or the way he was treated?
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Yep stuff em

And considering he was shown in the rooms after the game talking to some players and Sheedy on the broadcast coverage I don't think he just bolted out the door. A few would have had cars waiting to get the stuff outta Homebush.

Chocco didn't give much away about why he left GWS. Just said he's looking forward to working at a big Melbourne club with a big following and plenty of resources and of course singing such a great theme song. Hopes to help us not lose those close games we lost this season.

He better not do what he did to Port in the 2008 period onwards.....concerned..... may need to bring it up at the next meeting

Mark Williams has basically 60 years of footy knowledge in his head as his famous father Fos (won 5 flags in a row as coach at Port Magpies in the SANFL) passed down everything he knew to Chocco. Not to mention we now have some handy intellectual property of which kids at GWS might be keen to come home to Melbourne and that have the greatest scope to develop further.

Just on Lingy, tonight on Ch 7 he said he won't be coaching (as an assistant) at Carlton next year. So we can rule out that rumour.
