Jono O'Rourke ... is firming as the Dogs' prized No.5 pick.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/pickme/western-bulldogs-hope-for-a-dream-element/story-fnau1fjg-1226514318419

So going by all the rumours in the media and on the net, the top 10 will go something like this:

1. Whitfield  - GWS
2. Toumpas  - GWS
3. Menzel     - GWS :
4. Wines       - Melb
5. O'Rourke   - Dogs
6. Stringer     - Dogs
7. Grundy     - Port
8. Jaksch      - Bris
9.   ?            - Rich
10. Daniher  - Ess  (F/S)

That leaves guys like Vlastuin, Macrae, Mayes, Plowman, Garner, etc ... for us to choose from at pick 9.
if plowman drops drops how difficult would it be to say no

Going by that it doesn't look.as.if he's dropping.

As opposed to where he's about due to be

From a Bulldogs fan who claims he knows Garner ...

"Knightmare I'm close to garner -wright-and Calvert Richmond want garner collingwood and Essendon want wright and Geelong and Fremantle want Calvert"

From Brett Anderson of Inside Footy ...

"Could Brodie Grundy slide past Port at pick 7? Wouldn't be shocked if he ends up at GWS at pick 12. "

His top 4 is currently Whitfield, Toumpas, O'Rourke to GWS and Wines to Melbourne. Can't see O'Rourke getting past 5. Menzel at 5 or 6.

As for us ...

"Certainly a few whispers (re: Garner) but the Vlastuin link is stronger."

"Could well do.(re: Grundy) They (Richmond) love vlastuin though."

"Would make for a big call between Grundy and vlastuin"

Seems Plowman may end up a Blue at pick 11.

If Grundy slips to GWS at 12 then Port must be wanting Mayes at 7.

1. Whitfield  - GWS
2. Toumpas  - GWS
3. O'Rourke/Menzel     - GWS :
4. Wines       - Melb
5. O'Rourke/Menzel   - Dogs
6. Stringer     - Dogs
7. Mayes       - Port
8. Jaksch      - Bris
9. Vlastuin    - Rich
10. Daniher  - Ess  (F/S)
11. Plowman - Carl
12. Grundy - GWS

I'm still finding this hard to believe that Grundy and Macrae who isn't in this top 12 will slip this far down. Then there's Garner. Having said that someone out of all these kids has to slip down to the picks in the teens.

I'm not sure Garner is worth pick 9? The one similarity to to Fyfe he does have is dodgy shoulders. I not sure he's worth the risk.....

Garner has the potential to be an absolute jet. I got my hands on his VC vs WA game and it was very good. 20 disposals 3 goals. Would add some serious class to the forward half as well as push up through the midfield.

OE I think that list you have is pretty much spot on but will be O'Rourke AND Menzel for Dogs and no Stringer.

I'm not disagreeing the kid can play I just think he'll be a gamble at #9. Vlastuin, Grundy or Macrea would be safer long term selections IMO.

We can always get more mids and they mature earlier. Good rucks are hard to find and Grundy looks very good.

I agree with you to an extent, depends who is available. I'm leaning more towards Garner at this stage then Vlastuin just due to potential upside.

You'd have to take Grundy/Macrae/Stringer in front of Garner/Vlastuin though, surely?

Yer my order would go Vlastuin, Grundy, Garner, Macrae. That's without a medical report on Garner which who knows how bad they are or if they're fine.

Yeah for sure! Grundy would be a drem pick up! Stringer has some knocks but is a player very similar to Hurly but can play midfield as well and Macrea is has super silky skills probably a little light on to play to a full first year but long term would potentially be the best of he lot. In saying that there is nothing wrong with Vlastuin and would be more than happy with him if thats how it ends up. It's really starting to get exciting! And what makes it better is it seems that it's only the first 4 picks hat seem to be a 100% lock!

One Chris Judd had dodgy shoulders before being drafted.
