fell crap for doing this but im afraid if Menzel and Grundy starting smashing the comp i won't be happy

heres hoping vlas crunches judd come round one :pray
I was on the 'Grundy train' but the selection of McBean eases the pain. As for Menzel he was not the type of medium sized player we had most need for in any case. His knees would always be an issue (real or imagined) as well. We needed and still need top quality specialist mids who can go forward or back....not the other way around.

yeh mate but you can imagien when grundy starts killing it for the pies and Ivaan is in his 30's they will give it to us like tambling and franklin/roughhead
so your saying vlastuin will be a bust like tambling?

Not if we're winning premierships or at least finishing above them on the ladder.  :thumbsup
If we had played finals consistently when Tambo was around, the Buddy/Tambo argument would have been a moot point. Our ability to defend criticism of individual players at our club
is directly related to how successful we are on the field as a team. I'm sure there were a few recruitment mistakes made by Brisbane during their Golden run in 2001 & 2002 but does anyone remember them?

Ok, each to their own, don't agree though, really needs to improve his kicking and that has been identified by many, many times.

Got plenty of time to do it which I reckon he will. I don't think its actually his kicking, more his decision making under pressure which will improve as it was only his first year.

yep, his kicking is fine and was a strength in his junior yrs, as he adapts to the pace of afl, his decision making will improve

Being a bit harsh I feel. Conca has played well as a hard nose midfielder in his second year and Eliis similar. People expect far too much of you players. Vlaustin won't be a bust. At worst he will be a very good player. This is the exact reason we took him. Low risk for failure and complement our midfield group going forward. Reserve your judgment until a few years.

Go watch some of the games with Ellis in them, I have no doubt the kid will be great, all I am saying is his skills and in particular his kicking was very average last year for a player that was recruited for the reason of having sublime kicking skills, I didn't see it.

Go and read the recent story where he just ran the fastest around the Tan, read the first paragraph....

i swear we recruited him on kicking ablity thats why we had him in kick in in some games ... i agree with teh above he needs to work on his awarness on feild

i would have taken Atley, Heppel, Darling before conca but, like previously said before each to his own i gess

His attitude, his determination, his basic skill set and way he attacks the ball. You can't teach that. Morris, Cotchin, Grimes even Kingy all have that attitude and determination to succeed and improve themselves. Vlaustin is a team player first and foremost.

With attributes like that and the base he has to work with he can't fail..................unless he's cruelled by injuries of course. :thumbsup
