Will be a good player but 1) needs to get more of the ball and 2) needs to improve efficiency when he has the footy. Going in the 60% range isnt gonna cut it. Needs to work on his disposal and get it up into the 80s. Even Rance who gets hammered by our supporters has efficiency in the 80% range.

Cotchin avg is 60s too - that tends to happen when you win contested footy. Guys like Grigg, Bacher and even Rance should haves higher rates of disposal efficiency
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

are there any good inside mids in the comp with an efficiency in the 80s? doubt it. impossible expectations.

Tigger the Tiger
By Tony Greenberg

Nick Vlastuin’s mother must have clairvoyant powers...

When Richmond’s first selection in the 2012 National Draft was just 15 months old, his mum, Cecily, nicknamed him “Tigger”, after the tiger character in the “Winnie the Pooh” books.

‘Vlas’ like Voss
By Tony Greenberg
richmondfc.com.au
Tue 27 Nov, 2012

Successful coach of the Vic Metro team, former Carlton forward Rohan Welsh, has likened Richmond’s first pick in last week’s 2012 National Draft, Nick Vlastuin, to a younger version of triple Brisbane premiership captain and Brownlow Medallist, Michael Voss.

“If I had to compare him to an AFL footballer, I would say that he reminds me of a young Michael Voss.  He is tough, hard at the footy, and the man with the footy, leads by his actions, and uses the ball well,” Welsh said.

“’Tigger’ is just so hard that sometimes you can forget that he is actually a super smart footballer with great skills.

The Herald-Sun has ranked Vlastuin 12th as far as making the biggest impact next year out of all the new draftees.

We list the 20 draftees set to make the biggest impact next season

    Sam Landsberger, Jay Clark
    From: Herald Sun
    November 30, 2012

THE kid gloves are off for these golden 20.

Forget project players, here are the talents from this year's draft who will have the biggest impact next season.

SAM LANDSBERGER and JAY CLARK rank the first-year players who are set to explode from Round 1, 2013.

Get your SuperCoach notes ready.

12. NICK VLASTUIN
Club: Richmond
Age: 18
Height: 187cm Weight: 83kg
Drafted: No.9

Another foot soldier is physically ready to go, but will have a battle on his hands breaking into the senior side early, with Steve Morris and Brandon Ellis shining down back last season. Hard as a two-dollar steak and can play inside midfield role.

I was on the 'Grundy train' but the selection of McBean eases the pain. As for Menzel he was not the type of medium sized player we had most need for in any case. His knees would always be an issue (real or imagined) as well. We needed and still need top quality specialist mids who can go forward or back....not the other way around.

That's rough mate. I thought he was good for a first year player. Sometimes people expect so much from juniors. Thought he was better than many that were picked ahead of him too.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.
