If I recall correctly we tried Floss in the forward line at the start of last year ...and it was a flop .

kicked 3 in his 4th or 5th game against WC @ Spewbiaco

Floss said on the Sunday Footy Show, he hadn't even trained to play forward. The first he knew about it was when he received the message from our runner to move forward during the third quarter. He tried to ask Higgins where to stand at stoppages but Higgo just laughed and ran off .

Matty Lloyd reckoned it surprisingly worked so well Richmond should try Floss pinch hitting up forward from now on.

Did Matty say he needed to work on his diving to be a true forward

Vlastuin is becoming a formidable roadblock

Although star tall Alex Rance attracts most of the accolades dished out to Richmond's defence, Nick Vlastuin is becoming an increasingly important member of the Tigers' back six. The former first-round draft pick has struggled at times in his six seasons at Punt Rd to consistently live up to his potential, but his outstanding performance on Sunday against Geelong was the latest and most striking indication that he is finally ready to put his stamp on the competition. The 187cm defender was almost impassable across half-back, pulling down a game-high 11 marks. Most impressively, where other players were struggling to mark cleanly in the slippery conditions, Vlastuin's hands were sure and sticky. In a game where Geelong enjoyed its share of the momentum, Vlastuin more than any other Richmond defender played his part in absorbing that pressure until the Tigers were ready to counter-punch. Richmond will be hoping his performance is a sign of things to come. - Nick Bowen

From Robbo's "likes" column:

2. Not everyone has to be fast

Nick Vlastuin is a player of heart and substance and when he is allowed to play loose at the back, as he did at times on Sunday, he imposed himself in manner similar to Luke Hodge. We’re not suggesting he’s a better player than Hodge, but his influence at halfback cannot be denied. Took a game-high 11 marks and had 21 disposals and is tough. Won’t be surprised if he tops the coaches’ votes.

I remember when I said he was a good mark and got attacked :shh

Nick Vlastuin’s burgeoning reputation

Vlastuin has strengthened his status as one of the competition’s best small defenders throughout the first half of the 2018 season. Has showcased his elite intercept ability, along with poise, courage, toughness and first-class delivery of the ball out of the backline.

Is averaging 17.1 disposals, 6.8 marks and 4.0 marks per game. Had an AFL career-high 26 disposals against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium in Round 8.

Ranks 12th in the competition for intercepts per game and 19th for marks per game.

Almost a repeat of last year's Grand Final. A goal costing blunder or two early before brilliantly owning the rest of the game. The human wall!

Sadly, we'll lose him for a week with that brainfade of a swinging elbow.
