Rehab???
« on: November 28, 2012, 08:21:29 AM »
God whats going on, it seems like half the team are in the rehab group, honestly, are we the worst prepared team going into the pre-season?

Seems like every year it is worse, is it poor player management during the season regarding players carrying injuries??

What is going on?? Are we actually going to be able to field a fit team going into round one.

I remember asking the same question a couple of years ago and people were saying don't worry they will all come good by round one.......well round one came and the players in the rehab group didn't play.

We really don't look in good shape at the moment, with Grimes going down it seems to be getting worse.

Yeah that was said as well, our probelm is we let these players carry their injuries all year even when the season is shot. Then we end up in this mess.

do you know many players other clubs have in their rehab groups?

Point is, we have a lot, every year it seems to get worese and every year we carry these injured players through to the end for no reason, it's not like we were in the GF....Then we end up like this....

REHAB there just on modified training... we are in Nov and lets put it this way most have been in the system for 4 years onwards  so if they are really not fit know well they need to look at a different sport pre season is just topping up from the past year... our older players are certainly not going to get any quicker its all about maintaining there bodies..... will be fine gee essendon would have there team in rehab...

It may seem like a lot, but comparatively, is it?

Just looked up any club at random, it appears Geelong have 7 on restricted training programs, and I'm unsure how many out altogether. We have 8 blokes in the rehab group, most of which are just for recovering from routine post season ops. Just take a chill pill, every club does it and is in the same boat. It didn't affect blokes like Deledio as Cotchin last time and it won't this time. And sometimes you can't get a player into a clean out style op the week immediately after playing. Off the top of my head I think hips are fine, but things like knees can develop inflammation under the knee cap, and if you've ever had an operation before to fix an injury then you will know that surgeons don't like working around inflammation.

Apparently this year is better than what it was last year.

The nature of the injuries or the amount of players in rehab?

It may seem like minor injuries etc... but that was apparently the case last year with Riewoldt and it did affect his first part of the year.

Lets just hope they all come good by round 1, I have my doubts though..

King was pulled out during the season. What's your point?

King broke down during the season, thats why he was out, point is we have another player that actually should of been "pulled out" earlier in the season to have surgery, but now we have him having multiple operations.

Then people will bag him because he cant get it going on field...how many others are like that?????
