He said he has been trying to act in a humbling manner.
Thing is, you don't really need to tell people that of yourself.

What a joke...watched the C7 news last night and they didnt give the story any air time. They had the cameras there and they interviewed Cotch with the actual medal around his neck, in relation to our prospects next season, in a package about most teams...every other network ran the story cept The drug cheats old man's station.

Funny

I am sure there was a 2minute piece early in the bulletin?

Saw it again on twitter last night

Wasn't part of sport, Jen Keyne introduced it.
"Oh yes I am a dreamer, I still see us flying high!"

from the song "Don't Walk Away" by Pat Benatar 1988 (Wide Awake In Dreamland)

“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Cotchin craves team success

richmondfc.com.au
14 December 2016

As delighted and honoured as Richmond captain Trent Cotchin was to retrospectively receive the 2012 Brownlow Medal at yesterday’s special ceremony, it’s team success with the Tigers that he craves.

Cotchin is totally focused on achieving the ultimate from a team perspective at Tigerland.

“What I’m striving to do as a football player, especially for the Richmond Football Club, is win a premiership . . . It’s pretty special, and that’s what we’re striving to do at Richmond,” Cotchin said.

And Cotchin believes the Tigers are well placed to quickly turn around their fortunes after a bitterly disappointing 2016 season, which saw them slump to 13th place on the ladder with just eight wins, following three consecutive finals campaigns.

“The change that we’ve had over the off-season and some of the players we’ve brought in, whether it be tried players or some youth, we’re really excited . . .

“We feel reinvigorated, and that energy’s important.  We lost our mojo a little bit last season.

“The challenge for us is just to take steps forward . . . embrace it.”

Cotchin was reminded of his all-round football capabilities through a highlights package of his 2012 season that was shown at the Brownlow presentation function.

“Watching those highlights back, I pushed forward and impacted on the scoreboard as well,” he said.

“I’m not suggesting that I haven’t played good footy since, but what I’m looking forward to doing, is playing my best footy going forward.

“I hope that I’ve got a fair bit of footy left ahead of me and, hopefully, it’s good footy.”

Cotchin’s show of respect to Jobe

SAM EDMUND, GLENN McFARLANE
Herald Sun
14 December 2016[/i]

ELEVATED Brownlow medallist Trent Cotchin called Jobe Watson before Tuesday’s ceremony to clear the air over the unprecedented handover.

Cotchin said he felt obligated to call the original 2012 winner as a show of respect to the Essendon skipper.

Watson last month surrendered the medal after sitting out the 2016 season because of a doping ban.

He was formally replaced in the history books by 2012 joint runners-up Cotchin and Sam Mitchell.

“Yeah, I’ve contacted Jobe. I thought that was the right thing to do,” Cotchin said.

“But I don’t need to comment any further on that.”

Cotchin said receiving a Brownlow Medal four years on was surreal.

“Absolutely and obviously there’s a lot of emotion involved with that as well,” Cotchin said.

“You feel for people and it’s been going on for so long, but hopefully we can all take a step forward now.”

Asked if Watson’s plight had watered down his thrill at winning the game’s biggest individual honour, Cotchin said: “I think it’s hard to comment if you haven’t actually won it on the night.

“This is the only way I know it feels to win a Brownlow Medal given it’s very different. I’ll enjoy the moment and I’ve tried to be really humble in the whole thing and obviously the decisions have been out of our hands and we just went with the flow.”

They were asking on SEN just before if Cotch will be stripped of his Brownlow to give it back to Watson  ::) based on today's Herald-Sun articles posted here: http://oneeyed-richmond.com/forum/index.php?topic=17263.msg667826#msg667826.
