I think both areas you highlighted have improved out of sight in the last couple of seasons. I think his decision making is not his weakness but agree his kicking lets him down at times.

I would think as it stands right now he is our number 1 defender and rightly so. He fights outside his weight division nearly every week and more often than not he wins more contests than he loses. He last few games on Johnno Brown being the perfect example

I think he so far ahead of Astbury it isn't fair to compare TBBH

Rance to me used to be what S. Edwards is to WAT but i have been impressed by his progress.
Rance is our best defender. Grimes can't stay on the park, Newy is getting on and never really manned up anyway, Stevie M is a goer but is no where near taking a Key forward.  Griff, same as Grimes.

I'm hardly a prude. You need to go to bed brah. Let's be honest, Rance is a walk up start. Chaplin is not better than Rance in any way and the only thing Griffiths (currently) has over Rance is size and skills. But skills don't matter when you get 3 kicks a game. Petterd shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Rance.
In my view, Grimes is our best stopper followed by the prancing one. Chaplin a distant 3rd. They will be our 3 talls and if we play 4 then maybe Griffiths with get a game. It annoys me when people talk Rance up as a star defender but you're underselling him massively here.
