Tiger issues all mental

Richmond has the talent to play finals but that isn’t enough on its own, says Fox Footy expert Brad Johnson.

I already posted about this yesterday.  He's clearly reading my posts.

I think this year comes down to mental application.

If we can beat the scum round 1 it will give us a lot of confidence.
A great start to the year can do wonders to a club like ours that has had limited success.
We could be 3-0 coming into the pies game and a competative showing against them and freo in Perth will give us a lot of belief coming into the Geelong game in round 6 which I believe is crucial to our finals aspirations. If we can finally put away the cats (long overdue) :pray we can expect an extra 4 wins from round 6-9 if we are serious contenders.
A good showing against the west coke eagles in Perth and then the bye.
That's atleast 7 wins we should be aiming for before the bye which will make us 7-3 and well placed for the second half assault and we aren't playing catchup footy.
All the games after the bye are winnable.
We've always been very competative against the hawks and swans and we play the Freo & the crows at home in the second half. 5 more wins and we are finals bound in 2013.
There really isn't any excuses this year baring major injuries to key personnel. ie Maric.
With a never say die, win at all costs mentality, a hatred of mediocrity & a lot of self belief there's isn't any reason not to make finals this year.
Confidence and belief makes lesser players better and a strong stance against mediocrity will ensure the team doesn't have any inexcusable losses as we did last year.
Bring on round 1 and let's smash the cheating scum!
Carn the Tigers!
Eat 'em Alive!
 :gotigers
Then again I don't blame him.  :thumbsup
The club that keeps giving.

Would love Richmond to get that killer instinct ...
Can remember games against Brisbane and the bulldogs last year where we were a mile in front only to fall  :sleep  :sleep :sleep

He's right.

We've been a club without mental fortitude for years and I believe the reason for this is our leadership. Until recently we haven't had the on field direction or strength of character to stop the rot/don't panic/claw our way back on top. The great three-peat Brisbane side used to beat up on teams mentally before the game had barely begun. They would intimidate their opponents physically and get in their ears and heads. They never believed they would lose a game and this arrogance all came from their leaders.

If we want to start to push up the ladder it needs to begin with our leaders.

Now this is a good video.

No hot air.

"I can't put Richmond in the 8 until they beat teams like Gold Coast'

I have to agree here.
We have mental lapses that we need to address.
We should be beating Gold Coast by 60 points.

While I totally agree with this post Stripes, Brisbane had an incredible pool of talent and experience that mental toughness ended up complimenting.
We are still short on both - the talent we have is still gaining experience and the experience we have is largely not that talented!
