Such a 2012 type side.
The club spruiked all our recruits all per season to only come up with this.

Would feel better if Vlaustin was named and even Petterd.

No imagination whatsoever.

I was optimistic up until I read that side.

If Vlaustin can't get Jako out of the side on footy ability and the selectors have not got the gonads to select him then how is the side going to improve in big games.

Nahas is in but Vlastuin isn't :o even White had a better pre-season from the games I saw on tv.

Yeah this confused me a bit too, only thing I could think of is that we think Nahas and King give us better foward line preasure to stop the Yarran etc. To me White should be ahead of Nahas based on the pre season.

Was it White last year that tagged Yarren right out of the game and also scored a goal.

OK. No new names to get excited about but this in itself is a positive for mine. As I have said elsewhere, I always thought that Vlaustin would struggle to push his way into our midfield based on its experience and strength atm. Has he shown enough consistency or form to pus our Ellis or Conca? Jackson makes mistakes but he is our best tagger and without him Murphy woul run riot.

Similarly McGuane provides a contest and with Vickery down on form we need someone with the experience, strength (not called Muscles for nothing!;)) and, dare I say it, form to make us less predictable up forward. McGuane can actually make a lead, stick and mark and kick a goal making the defenders accountable. Until Elton or A. Edwards steps up, we need him.

King is the barometer of the team. He will gives his all and get into the defenders heads early. He is a very under rated player for the role he does. Nahas does go missing but also sticks his head up regularly to break the lines and create scoring opportunities. Again, he can not be ignored.

Petterd would have played in Batch spot but pulled up sore.

This team is a solid team.

We will win the game with this team.  :thumbsup

Just read on BF that Vlastuin not playing was a leadership group decision - they want him to earn his spot via coburg.. anyone know if there is any truth to this?

I don’t mind Maguane up forward. You would never rely on him to hold down a key post, but as a third tall I think he has something to offer. He is rangy and can take a plucky grab. Importantly, his defender’s mindset means that he scraps and harasses hard for a man of his size. He'l dob a couple i reckon.

Griffiths on the bench- I can't see how this is going to work. Rance very rarely leaves the ground. So who are they rotating him with, Chaplin only? Or are they going 4 talls in the forward line. It doesn't seem balanced. Are we sure about an extra tall on a greasy MCG?

McGuane- this selection should be a boost for his confidence, something that he lacks in his game. I hope it helps him turn those 2 goal games into 4 or 5.

I guess Picky is a bit stiff but very happy to see Batch get named. Reckon two of those EMG's had better pre-seasons than Jacko but then again they aren't in the LG ;D

Footy is finally back. Go you tigers
