MARK Neeld has been sacked as Melbourne coach.

It was announced at a media conference on Monday morning, but CEO Peter Jackson said it was decided at last Friday's board meeting to part ways with the coach.

He said it was in both Neeld's and the club's best interests for the parting to come immediately.

Jackson said Neeld was only told at 8am on Monday.

Assistant coach Neil Craig will take over for the rest of the season.

Almost makes tonight's Footy Classified complusive viewing to see what nonsense Garry comes out with

Picking Neeld has done tremendous damage to the club. They would of done better by sticking with Bailey.

Neeld just made the easiest 500k he'll ever make. He'll have a holiday and will probably join Mick Malthouse at Carlton as a senior assistant coach being paid a decent salary again.

Should be paid out of Lyon's pocket, since Neeld was his endorsement.

Choco was sacked by at a basket case in Port, where at the end of his tenure he didn't have the support of the board, they had no money and relied on AFL support to survive

Why would he or anyone for that matter want to go to the Dees when they are a worse basket case  :huh

Don't agree about an easy 500k, blokes probably suffered so much stress he's lost 10 yrs of his life.
As for joining milk at carton, I totally agree and think that would be a great move for him. Nice call

Jackstar. No doubt he's the man for the job.

Ch 7 news said it's between Eade and Williams with AFL House favouring Eade to take over as Williams' messy exit from GWS will go against him at AFLHQ.

Paul Roo's on On The Couch said he doesn't have the burning desire to coach like Rocket.

Rocket told Robbo on 360 he still has the burning desire to coach.

Or Gary Ayres.  I've been impressed with what he has done at Port Melbourne.  They could do a lot worse.
