reckon the journo s spot on.  what hes saying is the very best scenario for us is scraping into the 8. its nothing new most people before the start of the yr had us in a group of about 6 teams challenging for 7th or 8th.
based on our actual performance in two wins id say nothing has changed. the performances have been nothing to write home about but hey it seems most disagree.  when the better players get hurt and we miss em for 6 to 8 weeks watch it fall away then.  but hey if you play bruise free footy you arent likely to cop too many injuries perhaps that is the plan lol.

You sure you support Richmond? Your comments aren't very accurate and i have reservations on whether you attend any games at all.

Very perceptive Bengal, something just doesn't add up.

Greetings, all.

I'm a Brit who has just started watching Aussie Rules (I recently moved to Hong Kong and I can't stay up late enough to watch the soccer).  A mate of mine from Bacchus Marsh suggested I support Richmond, so here I am.  Turns out that he thought that was a good call because, as a Liverpool FC supporter, he thought Richmond's glorious past, uncertain future, and delusional support suited me best (his own team is Geelong).  The cap certainly fits for Liverpool, I'll wait to see whether it does for Richmond.

I'm exactly the sort of distant, unconnected supporter that I would be scathing about with my Liverpool hat on - apologies in advance for that.  I'm certainly pleased with the team I've chosen to support so far though (even though the game against Carlton was a bit sweaty at the end).

Cheers
Welcome aboard Tugger. Yep many similarities between the Tiges and Liverpool. The only difference is Richmond has seen 3 decades of misery rather than two lol.

A few other comparisons:

Adelaide (Aston Villa) - from the 2nd biggest Aussie Rules town and as a result are very insular and parochial. Won trophies in their early days but haven't won anything for a while.

Brisbane (Milton Keynes) - moved from their home town against the wishes of their original supporters.

Carlton (Leeds/Chelsea) - Sent themselves broke a decade of so ago and to the bottom busting their salary expenditure. Chelsea-like in terms of thinking $$$ can win them premierships. We hate them with a passion.

Collingwood - like Man U in terms of having the largest crowds but without the success of the past two decades. Maybe Tottenham is a closer analogy. Once every couple of decades they win a trophy. Supporters are feral inbreds so throw in Millwall in there too.

Essendon (Everton/Chelsea) - you'll hate them and their Veruca Salt supporters. Trust me.

Fremantle (Swansea City) - Newbies who seem to finally know how to play in the big league.

Geelong (Man City) - Have had success lately but before that it was usually heartbreak.

Gold Coast (Brighton & Hove Albion) - more renowned as a holiday spot.

Greater Western Sydney (Dagenham & Redbridge) - never heard of them until a couple of years ago.

Hawthorn (Watford)  - those colours :chuck

Melbourne (Accrington Stanley) - original football club that is now a novelty.

North Melbourne (Blackburn Rovers) - won titles in the 90s on the back of one of the greatest forwards of all time. No one else cares about them.

Port Adelaide (Fulham) - probably the smallest of the traditional clubs in the big league.

St Kilda (West Ham) - middle of the road club with decent support that always seems to shoot itself in the foot and grab defeat from the jaws of victory.

Sydney  - is there a moneyball team in the EPL? I guess Swansea is the closest.

West Coast (Arsenal) - wealthy and have the capacity to win a premiership but question marks now on whether the coach has overstayed too long.

Borussia Dortmund.

Most of the hardcore Richmond supporters I know follow West Ham.

Essendon are definitely Liverpool.

I can not see the comparison with Richmond at all.

Anyway let's not all eat our own about what epl club we support.
 :cheers

Richmond is number one and always will be !!!!!!!!!

No positive articles here.

Adam Jones in meltdown mode.  ;D

I expect him to resurface from his swimming pool of tears if Collingwood win next week.

Tugger went with his club Liverpool so I didn't disagree. Just like us in 1980, I bet no Liverpool fan would've even considered going decades without another league title after 1991. We all believed the good times and premierships would just roll on. Hopefully the good times (and a flag  :pray or five  ;D ) are returning for the Tiges in the upcoming years.

Borussia Dortmund is a good analogy for us too smasha. The sea of yellow and black at the south end of the Westfalenstadion reminds you why our colours are the best  :thumbsup.
