We need to pinch a few of these 60/40 games in order to make the eight. Very important match on Saturday night.

I'm worried about their spread.

Collingwood annihilated us in the 3rd quarter with their run and spread.

Against the more experienced campaigners such as the Pies and Cats I fear, our best players are matched by their best so it becomes a battle of depth. Unfortunately the chinks in our armour still appear more vulnerable than there's. Under the relentless pressure of the contest such sides bring, players such as Petterd, Ellis, Jackson, Maric and Rance's flaws are brought to the fore where normally we/they cover them allowing them to predominately use their strengths. I fear that unless our quality midfielders can dominate theirs then the Cats pressure and experienced heads will win easily.

Preview: Tigers v Cats
By Nathan Schmook

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

SUMMARY:
After making a 3-0 start to the season, Richmond has suffered back-to-back defeats and needs to rebound from a heartbreaking one-point loss to Fremantle in Perth last Friday night. Geelong, meanwhile, is one of just three undefeated teams, having done enough against the Western Bulldogs in round five. After their round-four loss to Collingwood, Saturday night presents the Tigers with another chance to prove themselves against a competition heavyweight.

WHERE AND WHEN: MCG, Saturday May 4, 7.40pm

LAST FIVE TIMES
R4, 2012, Geelong 11.9 (75) d Richmond 9.11 (65) at Simonds Stadium
R18, 2011, Geelong 17.11 (113) d Richmond 7.9 (51) at Etihad Stadium
R6, 2010, Geelong 24.17 (161) d Richmond 7.11 (53) at Simonds Stadium
R2, 2009, Geelong 15.15 (105) d Richmond 13.7 (85) at Simonds Stadium
R18, 2008, Geelong 20.14 (134) d Richmond 10.11 (71) at Etihad Stadium

THE SIX POINTS
1. The Cats have dominated the Tigers in recent seasons, winning the last eight contests including five by more than 60 points.

2. Richmond last defeated Geelong in round nine, 2006, its only win from the past 16 contests between the sides.

3. This is the first MCG match between the sides since 2008 and the 38th overall, with 19 wins to 18 in the Cats' favour.

4. Richmond is ranked last for tackles this season, averaging only 47 per game.

5. Neither team has performed well with clearances in 2013. Richmond is ranked 13th; Geelong is last.

6. No team has taken the ball inside 50 more times in 2013 than Geelong, with an average of 63 per game.

More confident against the cats than Freo.  We cannot handle close checking teams such as Freo. We do better against free running teams that don't crowd us.  That said, the cats have been in awesome form this year.  Could be an upset though. Hope Chimp comes up!
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Reckon this is winnable, only factor is maybe the return from Perth and recovery.
They have 2 pretty handy ins.
Would Foley be any show this week or still too early?

GEELONG will welcome back forwards Paul Chapman and Tom Hawkins for its blockbuster clash against Richmond on Saturday night.

But the unbeaten Cats again look set to be without defender Jared Rivers for a few weeks, as another knee injury sidelines the former Demon.

Still too early. He'll play his first full game in the magoos this weekend (played 3 qtrs against Box Hill). Better to have him 100% right for the second half of the year rather than rush him back for round 6.
