The Dogs were given a 67-point hiding by the Tigers back in Round 3 this season, but have improved immensely since that outing and will take on the Tigers full of confidence following two wins from three games in the past month.
McCartney said the loss in April will be fresh in the mind of his players and he expects a more competitive performance this time around.
"They remember the start where they got us, how non-thinking we were around the ball and how they were able to play the way they wanted," McCartney said on Thursday.
"They gave us a pretty good working over so it's our challenge to deal with that.
"They have a perception of us and how they think they can beat us and we've got to be able to deal with it and play well."
The Dogs will hand a debut to Lachlan Hunter while McCartney hinted veteran forward Daniel Giansiracusa would play as sub against the Tigers, following impressive performances in that role in the Dogs past three matches.
