beat me to it Tigger.
It doesnt have to be an uncontracted player to trade. All that needs to happen is the player in question agrees.

The only issue with a contracted player is that if the new club offer less than his current contract, then the current club have to pay the difference.

I reckon GWS would absolutely salivate over Grimes if he was offered but I reckon this place would go into meltdown if we did. But lets look at the facts. We have won against quality opposition without him (Hawks, Freo). We only won 4 of the 9 games he played in (Saints, Dogs, GWS, Bombers) and finally  He could be only one more serious leg injury away from having to give up the game up all together.

I would offer Grimes for Adams in a heartbeat and also try a swap of picks in the deal to get better than 11.  :outtahere

Reckon we'll have to trade down picks if we get this one done. Chances of us getting a better pick than 11 are next to nothing. I'd be happy to trade down picks from 11 to land this guy. Remeber, Ellis was taken at 15. Best player we've grabbed since martin (although Tigger seems likely to be a genuine ripper).

probably the sort of deal that it would take.

Been a fan of grimes from the first time i saw him though, so even allowing for his injury probs it would be sad to see him go.

Taylor Adams' manager Winston Rous says Adams has met with the Pies, Cats, Blues, Bombers and Tigers.

Winston Rous says Taylor Adams is going to look at opportunities down in Victoria

Rous says there's a "very slight" chance Adams could stay with GWS. "More likely than not he'll be making his way back to Vic"

Collingwood recruiting manager Derek Hine confirmed the Pies are one of many clubs to interview Taylor Adams. "We've certainly got a strong interest".

And also the trade doesn't have to be direct.
As an example Shed could be traded to Port or Adelaide and they satisfy GWS.

Surely Astbury has to be considered as trade bait to land Adams, and keep the Tigers in the 1st round.

Astbury for Adams?

 :lol
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

Daath can't see that happening for a number 3 selection unfortunately.
Unless we offer say pick 11 and Astbury, or a grigg or foley plus pick 11.
This is where filth and peptides will be able to trade out either experience or kpp.
We don't have the kpp in abundance and the experienced players we could trade are favourites  :-\

I really want the club to get the kid, but I'm bracing for him to go to filth and become a great got billing bogan.

Has a bit of the Cotchin type footballer in him. Richmond have shown a lot of interest in the past & this could help in getting him to the club. The possibility of playing in front of the loudest & proudest supporters  ;D

Adams went pick 13 in a heavily diluted draft, not #3
