When do they stop selling memberships ?
I would say end of August.

Some other clubs out of the finals race are already selling 2015 memberships.

The Herald-Sun has our final 2014 tally at 66,122.

Tigerland bandwagon overflowing with yellow and black supporters

Peter Rolfe
Herald-Sun
August 22, 2014

RICHMOND’S bandwagon is reaching peak capacity as the red-hot Tigers march towards a fairytale finals berth on the back of a seven match winning streak.

As the Tigers eye an eighth straight win against St Kilda on Sunday to keep their slim finals hope alive, new AFL figures reveal their fans are the third most proud and paid up in the league.

Richmond this year hit a record membership tally of 66,122, up 5801 on last year despite a tardy start to the season.

Collingwood again sold the most club memberships with 79,347 - 920 more than last season - even though the Pies are set to miss the finals.

Reigning premier Hawthorn 68,650, up more than 5200 on last year, to sit second.

But Richmond’s increase in membership purchases was bigger than any Victorian club and rising star Brandon Ellis hoped the team’s late surge would draw a huge crowd to its last Victorian game of the regular season.

“We want to see as many Richmond fans as possible supporting us at the MCG on Sunday,’’ he said.

``They’ve been huge for us all year

“We draw off their energy, and we think they’re the best fans in the league.”

Finals or no finals, Richmond will take time to thank fans for cheering them through a roller coaster season with a thank-you day for members at Punt Rd Oval after training on Saturday.

Richmond legend Neville Crowe will be honoured before Sunday’s twilight match against St Kilda as he is driven around the MCG and retiring cult Tiger hero Jake King will be recognised.

More AFL club memberships than ever were sold this year with the league-wide total of 804,480 more than 6 percent higher than last year.

One in every 28 Australians is now an AFL club member with 12 clubs breaking all-time records including Essendon, Geelong, Hawthorn, North Melbourne, the Tigers and the Pies.

AFL chief Gillon McLachlan said Aussie Rules fans were among the most ``loyal, passionate and committed’’ in the world.

``It underlines how much the game means to so many people and why fans are so important to the game,’’ he said.
