Frozen funds was it?

Yes, Daniel.  Smart dudes got out early, fund got suspended, investors got told that the fund was backed by quality assets, just liquidity issues ...... then it went downhill from there.

Maurice O was part of Clinton Casey's ticket and the failed Wallace era

Move over red rover, it's Speedy time

Yes so was March  ;D

2 pretty handy candidates just quietly, .not often you get two pillars of the business community facing off in a club election  :shh

What election?  ::) ::)

President is decided by the Board not the members, there is no election

Just quietly of course  :whistle

Tigers split on new president

    Jon Pierik

March, who took charge in 2005, has even considered not attending next week's count as he feels his job is done, but those close to him are attempting to persuade him to change his mind for a night where he will be thanked for his excellent service.

What crap

March was on 3AW just before our final and said to his last official function would be the B&F
My point was made that the members should decide it, ..

this was the same group of members who voted for greg miller lol. in effect putting a employee of the club onto the board to judge the performance of the CEO whilst the CEO had to judge the performance of Greg Miller as an employee who was on the board. Im sorry BJ but most of our members wouldnt know if their arse was on fire.

I've met Maurie at certain functions and know some of his relatives. Lives and breathes tigers.

I think we are in safe hands either way.

More importantly we need to keep Benny Gale chained to the CEO position till he keels over! He is the most important person at our footy club and by a fair margin!
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

It is also the same membership who voted to the last lot of changes to the constituation 2 years ago that gave the Board the power to appoint their own choice of directors for 3 year terms without those directors having to face the same membership.

And these changes happened mainly because Benny Gale said it was a great idea, not that people understood what the changes actually meant or even bothered to question them. FWIW anyone who was at that AGM would know exactly what I'm talking about  ;D

Speed's CV is remarkable.

I wonder why March prefers O'Sh. I don't like the fact the board is divided. Want everyone on the same page, club is run by a cohesive board not a president. Unless you are Collingwood.

Personally don't see the changes to be that catastrophic. I'd expect many of the 60k members being too lazy to educatedly vote in the best directors. Personally I'm happy to see the board nominate. There are obvious negatives but I don't think they are that bad. The members voted in Greg Miller for crying out loud, we don't have a great record.  :-[
Go Tigers!
