back on topic here
. may i ask who all these inside mids are we have. couldnt promote miles because we have too many inside mids please im bemused.
oh astbury at 23 is hardly a kid anymore. it is make or break time for him.
mcdonough in the backline. we are screaming out for QUALITY SML/MED FORWARDS. Yet we cant develop supposedly the most promising one of all when we drafted him as a forward. ffs jake king is our regular sml forward. and what we are short of sml/med defenders are we. last time i looked we had too many. what does that say about them.
just gotta question the logic at times.
i will say it now without seeing the final sides and open myself up to abuse and ridicule. my moneys on gcs.
Always the pessimist claw. Conversely I'm probably too much the other way at times - I think we will win easily.
Those who rotate the Inside mid role on our senior list- Cotch, Jackson, Thomas, Martin, Foley, Arnot, Vlaustin, Conca, King and Helbig.I may have missed some. Lids, Ellis, Houli and Grigg play almost exclusively as outside runners but even these get a gig on the inside at times.
stripes i really like you as a poster and i reckon your pretty close on most things. but please mate do i need to go thru each player.
if i have a major criticism of martin it is the small amount of contested ball he gets. it really is terrible for one whos being touted as elite.
thomas for a so called inside mid actually gets more ball outside aand with his skills its why he got chopped.
vlas has spent most of his time across hb and for this yr at least without going into a long winded ex planation should do so again imo.
conca is very outside imo , thats not to say he wont go and get it when needed.i have some real issues with conca. if i was to make a call on all our early picks conca is the one im most concerned about.
are helbig and arnot even going to get games.
foley has become a more outside player than inside and it has to stop. his skills outside are not good enough. trouble is with his size and the way the games going hes struggling to compete on the inside.
jacko well he competes im not sure about just how much contested ball he gets a fair bit i suppose if i was fair. but its what hes done with it how much does he hurt.had a good yr last yr and ive been critical of almost all his yrs ,so that vis saying something. im asking will he revert back which is normally the case with limited players or will he sustain the level.
imo inside mids has been and is a big weakness. i suppose im talking quality here and the only one of quality is cotchin.
maybe it could be we just have too many who cant find enough ball when the pressure is on, just too outside, either way its a problem.
our first rounder just had to be on a genuine ball winning skillful mid we have to add to cotchin. im not sure lennon fits this bill. if hes to be a mid he looks more like a deledio than a cotchin.
atm to me we are screaming out for a scott thompson type lovely size hard at it and a inside ball winning machine. we need him ready in 3 yrs. could you imagine the damage cotchin would do with a thompson type along side.
you know as good a servant as tuck was and hes one of few i really liked despite the flaws, we had to up grade on him, yet our upgrade was most likely an even more defiicent player in matt thomas.
finally to compete you have to be able to win the ball first and foremost. i reckon we have too many who rely on others to get it to em.
