Core strength is arguably more important than bulk/weight these days.
i agree. but it is very much the case the ideal in weight is the last two digits of your height.very few players actually play significantly under this rule. it seems this height ratio allows for maximum benefit in core agility strength pace etc.it also seems the exception to the rule is players being heavier for power and the roles they play.very few players on any list other than juniors play well below this rule of thumb.
i ask again why would you play the undersized and lacking core strength and slow lennon in the backhalf . hes behind the 8 ball straight away on not one front but two.not to mention your putting him in an unfamilar role.
you know when lennon is 88kg and finds a yard of pace play him back if its needed but not in his 2nd yr where he is still massivively disadvantaged.
i dont want to see any of our players having to give away a significant size advantage to an opponent ffs the game is hard enough to play on an equal playing field.
our mantra should be simple bigger stronger faster and better skilled.
i can name just grigg, grimes, lennon, mcbean, plus most of our newbies who are significantly below the guide. lennon and mcbean obviously have time as do our newbies and will take a little time. all im saying is play em where they have best chance to shine and develop while they bulk up and improve.
