Hate to think what this site would be like if we had lost the last seven matches.

 :lol

We'd all be over at your political thread.  :lol :cheers

I think there would be a few more obituaries in the paper with Tiger logos  :P

Actually the only time you get seem to get a reasonable discussion going now days, without coach/club/player hate replies, is when the threads about opposition supporters  ;D

If people really believe that every other club in the league wouldn't have taken (or kept him in the case of GWS) Miles if they knew he would play like he has first at VFL level and now at AFL

then you hatred for Dimma is blinding you completely.

Really?

Have you seen GWS list? They have a stockpile of mid field talent

Somehow i doubt wp has a "hatred for Dimma is blinding you completely"

Perhaps clouding his otherwise impeccable judgement then  :P

GWS is in a very enviable position in terms of talent and depth and perhaps (as we saw when he played against GWS) he lacked confidence against his team mates so he didn't stand out. I think in retrospect though, GWS would have let another player go in his stead if they knew what he was capable of.

Sorry I obviously didn't articulate as well as I should have

My point was GWS have had to reduce their numbers on 2 fronts. Firstly, the needed space to take part in the draft. Secondly they now have to reduce their list size. Players are going to be cut who most likely are going to be given opportunities else where.

I remember Tom Harley saying (and I highly respect his view) that one of the reasons Miles was cut along with a couple of others wasn't because of lack of ability but simple because the Giants have many of the same type depth so he was moved on. Same thing has happened at the Suns. Look at Mav Weller, cut by them, taken as a rookie by the Saints and he is showing what he is capable of.

And BTW I have no "hatred" of Hardwick. What I have lost during the course of the year is respect for him. There are a number of reasons and they aren't all about the on field either. That's all

Thanks for clarifying that WP. Are you suggesting that Miles isn't as good as the inside midfielders they currently have on their list?

Dimmer said "we're lucky to have him at the club".

Truth is, we're lucky Dimmer was forced to play the guy through other's injuries and poor form

Yep, what the bracketed one said!   :clapping

Yes and no there were others ahead of him obviously at the time they needed to make list changes. But I think and you mentioned it he is probably showing them now they've probably made a mistake in letting him go because he is better than they realised.

Don't forget he was a pre-listed selection by the Giants at 17 or whatever it was. So there is a good chance he has matured both physically and mentally on the last 12-18 months which as we know is quite common with kids.

When it is all said and done it is to a large degree about opportunities. He is getting his now where he probably didn't at GWS and the RFC are reaping the clear benefits.

How much of the Giants' midfield are first round draft picks? Could it be as simple and ridiculous that given the wealth of talent they were handed they just structured their team loosely on draft order assuming those players were the most likely to develop into A graders?

Pretty sure that's what Tom Harley said during one of their or our games recently

Just doubled checked he was a NSW-ACT zone selection in 2011, so he was pre-selected before the Nat draft that year (source RFC website)

Like you have said too WP - I would suggest that regardless of where he was taken in comparison to the other midfielders on their list, GWS would be ruing their decision to delist him now.

Regardless his recruitment was a great decision by the club particularly for the pick they used.  :thumbsup

But I don't think that makes him one of their 17-year old selections does it? If my maths is right.
