Would be the best combo player/coach for sure MOL.  Jock McHale's record is pretty decent but he wasn't near as good a player as Mathews if you go by the reports (I'm old but not that bloody old).    :help   ;D

Roos was overrated as a player. Nowhere near Matthews as a player.

sheedy was a an average to good player who worked hard to achieve what he did as a player.
Hafey? mcgualter has done more as a player .

Yeah, funny you say that HRT.  When I first went to post my reply above I said the same thing abut Roos but I checked his playing record first and it had more substance to it than I can remember at the time.  7 All Australian, 5 Fitzroy B & F, 14 State of Origin (2 capt), 2 E.J Whitten Medal, 1 AFL MVP (Leigh Matthews Award), 121 career Brownlow  votes including a 2nd and a 3rd.
