A few mins left in the vfl gf

And Cyril is too special to participate
All part of the plan they had. Rioli is starting on the ground today. Clarkson obviously not going to die wondering. If it pays off he'll be classed a genius; if it doesn't (they lose and Cyril does a hammy in the first quarter) then he'll cop the flack. As reigning premiers and with two flags in the bank already, I'd guess a coach can live with taking a big risk in one Granny. Not many coaches have 3 flags to their name.

All Hawks in that last 15 minutes of that first qtr. The difference so far is tackling pressure and aggression at the ball and ballcarrier. Some soft, fumbly and panicky efforts by a number of Swans so far.

Swans haven't turned up to play today. Kiren Jack needs to get involved for the Swans to have any chance.

Swans worst game for the year. Longmire will be spitting chips at half time. Hope they can at least make a contest of it.....
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Sadly. Makes for a dull one-sided Granny.

The Hawks were off in their prelim and just got over Port but have left their very best for the big dance. Makes you envious over how good they are, especially when they can lose three players like Buddy, Kennedy and McGlynn to the 2nd best side in the comp. and still flog them when it matters. Today will make it 8 flags to Hawthorn since we won our last one  :P.

Yep.

It's going to be a long last quarter. Especially for the Swans players.

You've got to hand it to the hawks.
They were great during the eighties and inherited a generation of softy turncoat supporters that left them for dead when they were crap in the mid nineties.
Then they came running back in 2001 just to desert them again in the mid noughties.

Then they've all coming running back again after hiding the other club jumpers they had brought during the rebuilding years.

Hawks supporters ARE the biggest turncoat bandwagon front runners in the AFL. FACT!

A snore-fest in the end but the best team all year and with the best list by far won. It would've felt like 1980 for Hawk supporters with the game over midway through the 2nd qtr.

They are going to tough to knock over again next year too  :P.

1980 - Richmond 10 Hawthorn 4

2014 - Hawthorn 12 Richmond 10

Like Dimma in our Elim Final, there was nothing Longmire could do when the bulk of his side didn't turn up to play and were outclassed in any case.

Sandy Roberts just now on Fox Footy: Maurice Rioli of course the Norm Smith Medalist in Richmond's stunning belting of Collingwood back in 1980....

You know you'll never be able to trust your supporters to stick around when the reason they jumped on in the first place was glory hunting.

I recall in the late 90s Friday night games at the g with Hawthorn vs (non big 4 club) and the stands were bare. Be lucky to crack 20,000.

Fast fwd to today and I still maintain they have far less supporters than they claim.  Example - 60,000 crowd vs port adelaide last week and only 35,000 were Hawthorn.

The moment you only get 35,000 supporters at home in a final you know your a minnow.

It wouldn't happen at Richmond and it also wouldn't happen at Carlton, Collingwood or Essendon .
