You've got to hand it to the hawks.
They were great during the eighties and inherited a generation of softy turncoat supporters that left them for dead when they were crap in the mid nineties.
Then they came running back in 2001 just to desert them again in the mid noughties.
Then they've all coming running back again after hiding the other club jumpers they had brought during the rebuilding years.
Hawks supporters ARE the biggest turncoat bandwagon front runners in the AFL. FACT!
My kids weren't allowed to barrack for any other team but the Tigers or get out of my house!
You know you'll never be able to trust your supporters to stick around when the reason they jumped on in the first place was glory hunting.
I recall in the late 90s Friday night games at the g with Hawthorn vs (non big 4 club) and the stands were bare. Be lucky to crack 20,000.
Fast fwd to today and I still maintain they have far less supporters than they claim. Example - 60,000 crowd vs port adelaide last week and only 35,000 were Hawthorn.
The moment you only get 35,000 supporters at home in a final you know your a minnow.
It wouldn't happen at Richmond and it also wouldn't happen at Carlton, Collingwood or Essendon .
