Tigers set to re-sign Tyrone Vickery

    Jon Ralph, Jay Clark
    From: Herald Sun
    February 26, 2014

RICHMOND is set to secure another of its first-round draft picks to a new deal with key forward Tyrone Vickery on the verge of committing to a contract extension.

The Tigers will be thrilled to secure Vickery, as clubs increasingly turn their attention to out-of-contract youngsters such as Taylor Adams, who joined Collingwood from Greater Western Sydney.

The Tigers will soon announce a deal of as many as three years with emerging 23-year-old Vickery, after securing Dustin Martin, Jack Riewoldt, Nick Vlastuin, Brandon Ellis and Trent Cotchin in the past year.

Vickery becomes even more important to the Tigers after No.1 ruckman Ivan Maric had ankle surgery on Monday. Vickery will have to help out in the ruck as well as aiming to improve on his 27 goals last season.

Hmmm, I remember us signing a "promising" key defender at roughly the same age a few years ago. He spent a decent chunk of that time in the 2's before being de-listed.
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

has done nothing to warrant a three yr extension. i reckon hes almost in a make or break yr and would not be doing anything till seasons end. one yr extension two at most if they must go down that path.

FFS Claw. He gives me the poos sometimes too but a one year extension? Really? He's our second best key forward by an absolute mile, he'd be entitled to tell us to get stuffed if we waited until the end of the season and then said "here's a one year deal champ".

Locking him up for 3 years also takes away his ability to leave for nothing  :rollin

Seriously, actually thought he was good on Saturday, best he's played in a while TBH.

There's no need for that. Claw is allowed to have a different view. Be a bit boring if we all had the exact same opinion.

What do we give Ty as a pass mark this year if he's playing as a perma foward ?
50 goals minimum I'd say

Your on drugs son, if Cotch is kicking between 44 - 88 then Ty needs between 88 - 176

OMG. I find myself agreeing with claw!
Although he shows potential to be an elite forward he is not an elite forward.  His ground play has been average. He doesn't take anywhere near enough pack marks for his height. I would've thought the next contract would have been the long one if he has a year that lives up to his potential.
The guy has been given an armchair ride with gifted games. Given the same ride I would have thought Griffiths would have been ahead of Vickery by now as I see him as the more talented of the two.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.
